Call For Enrollment: ComfortGel vs SoftGel Product Challenge
Hello CPAPtalkers,
Resmed has initiated a CPAPtalk.com Public Product Challenge pitting their SoftGel against the Respironics ComfortGel. This will be an exciting traditional nasal CPAP mask title fight!
If you are using a Respironics ComfortGel and want to trial a Resmed SoftGel in exchange for your detailed feedback, here is the enrollment form:
https://www.cpaptalk.com/productchallen ... .php?id=33
All enrollees are auto scored by our system and ranked by that score. A CPAPtalk employed human looks that over to make sure all is well and hits the button to send confirmation notices to the lucky 55 (50 primary, 5 back up) selected participants. We will not keep you suspense, you'll get emailed if you made it or if you did not.
To answer a few commonly asked questions:
1. Yes, if you aren't selected for the challenge, we're going to give you a CPAP.com discount code. You took the time and effort to support this process and enroll, we think its the least we can do. This is about improving the quality of CPAP products for all CPAP users. Its not meant to be an evil scheme to trick you into buying a discounted snugglehose, its just a thanks because we sell CPAP machines and have the stuff available to send out. If you can't support the Product Challenge AND be offered a discount code for your time and effort in good conscience, we respect that. Simply do not enroll or better yet, enroll but don't use the code.
2. We will need a valid prescription for a CPAP mask on file before you can be considered for enrollment. We can't make exceptions or hold the selection process up as we wait for your doctor to send it over. We aren't trying to be mean, its just that our train has to leave the station on time. With that said, we provide a ton of ways to get that prescription to us: fax, email, upload, import from cpap.com, import from cpapauction, carrier pigeon, spartan marathon messenger, space elevator, etc.
3. Low US 48 Participants Only. We take heat for this each time. Its not that we don't love Canadians, Alaskans and Hawaiians, but that the cost to include you guys and the time to get packages delivered is too high. We cover these costs and so reserve the right to select geographies.
4. We have email support for enrollees available at productchallenge@cpaptalk.com. You can also call 866-222-8676 but the response time may be slower.
If you've made it this far, thanks for reading and good luck! Here's another enrollment link:

That was my first mask but I can't do this because no one will let me have my prescription.

The law says that you are entitled to a copy of your prescription. If I were you, I would respectfully but firmly ask again for a written copy of your prescription. If they refuse, I would start by informing/reminding them that they are REQUIRED to give you this copy. I would be persistent (pesky) until they gave it to me. I would also start contacting the appropriate State boards. Someone else here can surely give you specific recommendations of who to contact.Stormynights wrote:That was my first mask but I can't do this because no one will let me have my prescription.

The DME said I would have to get it from my doctor but I never saw a doctor after my sleep study. I guess I will have to make an appointment with a sleep doctor.tonycog wrote:The law says that you are entitled to a copy of your prescription. So I have a question. Its asking for a script. Does cpap.com charge my insurance for the mask or is it just to verify that you indeed are a cpap user?
Re: Call For Enrollment: ComfortGel vs SoftGel Product Challenge
Awesome idea!
I've been using the Respironics Comfort Gel mask for 5+ years. Pretty much every night.
I signed up and was really excited for this, but I just read your post above about the contest only being open to the lower 48 states. Bummer. I understand, but its always a let down when Alaska Isn't included. You would be surprised at how shipping to Alaska has improved recently. Especially if you are using the US postal service. I completely understand Hawaii being discluded, but Alaska has improved a lot and is very comparable shipping wise. - At least cpap.com offers shipping to AK. My orders always qualify for free shipping and I appreciate that!
Anyway, I respect your rules and understand. Some day the 49th state will get some love!
Thanks anyway!

Insurance is in no way involved in this process. Neither is cash. We send you a product, you use it, write your honest and detailed opinion about it when the survey comes and you keep the product.dcarreiro wrote:So I have a question. Its asking for a script. Johnny,
What if I've already used both extensively? Can I provide some feedback?

CPAP.com will continue to "eat" shipping to AK, HI and PR when you order $99 or more.blakepro wrote:Awesome idea!

CPAPtalk.com is a little less generous. Maybe one day we'll have global or regional Product Challenges but until then, we've got to pinch the pennys on the CPAPtalk side of things.
Thanks for understanding and sorry you can't be included in this trial.

We are really looking for people who have used the ComfortGel but NOT the SoftGel. Feel free to register but I suspect your autoscore in that case would be pretty low.mdintx wrote:Johnny,

My autoscore would be low?!?!? I'm not sure that would be good for my self-esteem.johnnygoodman wrote:We are really looking for people who have used the ComfortGel but NOT the SoftGel. Feel free to register but I suspect your autoscore in that case would be pretty low.mdintx wrote:Johnny,

No hard feelings. What if I pay for the difference in shipping!??johnnygoodman wrote:CPAP.com will continue to "eat" shipping to AK, HI and PR when you order $99 or more.blakepro wrote:Awesome idea!

Okay okay, I'll give up. I look forward to hearing the results.
Again, excellent idea and great website you have here.
Take care!

Looking forward to the challenge. I've used the ComfortGel for awhile, it's a pretty good mask but there's always room for improvement.

Re: Call For Enrollment: ComfortGel vs SoftGel Product Challenge
Registered (actually did twice because for some reason didn't see the request for the cpaptalk username the first time). This will be my first trial if I get in. Comfort gel is the only mask I've been able to use consistently so far, though I've tried a few other masks. Looking forward to seeing the results whether I participate or not, as I'd like to see how the two measure up against each other.
Re: Call For Enrollment: ComfortGel vs SoftGel Product Challenge
I have used both the Comfortgel and the Softgel. The softgel is a huge improvement IMHO and I love it. It is my new favorite, so I'm anxious to see how the challenge goes.
