Hi -
I'm back in the US after 3 weeks of international travel with my S9 (started the trip less than a week after starting CPAP therapy... it all worked out just fine, especially once adjusting expectations for jetlag etc.).
Here's my problem: I set the clock on the S9 to the local timezones (Kenya, India, etc.) while on the road. Now that I'm back home, I want to get the clock back to the right time (it is currently about 12 hours ahead of me). However, when I try to set the time on the S9 to the current local time I get an error (Invalid date/time) that specifies that there is data for that time period and hence I can't set the clock to the correct time.
I've downloaded the data and there is actually no usage during the time I'm trying to set the machine to... also tried deleting a day of data from the card (after backing it up). Nothing worked, so the machine is set 12 hours ahead of me. Not a huge deal, but aggravating.
Has anyone else run into this problem and found a solution?
Cheers,
-george
Reset date/time on S9
Re: Reset date/time on S9
I haven't run into this problem, but I can see why it would happen if you already have data for that time period. You could wait 12-24 hours to change the date/time without using the machine, or if it's not possible to do that you could do an ERASE option within the Clinicians menu to see if that would allow you to change it, but it will wipe out any data you have both in memory and on the SD card.
If you decide to do this then I would try and backup the SD card first.
Ideally I think it's just best to leave your time to the original time when traveling through a lot of timezones otherwise the machine will get highly confused.
Thanks
Dave

Re: Reset date/time on S9
This is a stab in the dark as I haven't yet had to change time zones on my S9, but you could try setting the date a day forward, then changing the time, then setting the date back a day and see if that works.eljorgito wrote:However, when I try to set the time on the S9 to the current local time I get an error (Invalid date/time) that specifies that there is data for that time period and hence I can't set the clock to the correct time.

Re: Reset date/time on S9
I like Dave's solution: Leave the clock alone.
I take a backup of my card daily (while I watch for kinks), so I have one folder for each day. I am satisfied (after presenting various combinations of data to various dummy patients in ResScan) that the SD card accurately updates the compliance file with all available compliance data which is stored in the S9. I'm also satisfied that the S9 generates a single detailed file for each mask session. It will do this for 8 days, then overwrite the oldest file.
In addition, it displays the prior day's data until noon on the local display. At that time, the display resets to zeros and waits until the next mask session before displaying any meaningful data.
Time change musings:
1. Given the above, I can see how the local display could become confused when trying to move the time back across a noon reset point.
2. The compliance file (consisting of multiple days of data) could become confused, since multiple clock references are merged into one graph.
3. On one hand, the detailed file shouldn't be affected, since each file is independent of the other. On the other hand, if you're setting the clock so that a prior mask session could be overlaid by a future mask session, confusion may ensue.
4. That all says that you should be able to set the clock forward, but there are a number of reasons why you may not be able to set it backwards.
5. If you remove the card, reset the clock, and then reinsert another card, it should resolve the problem with the S9 unless it's hung up on the noon reset on the local display. You can then leave it to ResScan to resolve any inconsistencies it may find when you feed it the data from the new card.

Re: Reset date/time on S9
Thanks all. Moving forward I think that the "don't change the clock" option is going to be the best one. For now the clock is set to one full day ahead of actual time, and it's likely to stay that way at least until my first follow-up visit with the sleep dr... after that i'll probably either erase the card or throw in a new SD card and reset the clock and then leave it alone.
Thanks again!

Re: Reset date/time on S9
do you like the S9 for travel. The weight 1.8 lbs -- does that include the power brick. If not, how much more weight does the power adaptor add ? Any chance of using something smaller ?
Re: Reset date/time on S9
I am not sure this would work. Recall that India is 12 hrs from Pacific timezone. So if someone sleeps from 10pm-6am in India, but you kept the S9 in Pacific timezone, then your sleep is from approx 10am-6pm on the S9. Won't the S9 reset the summary data at noon and then mess up the daily averages? Isn't this "noon reset" feature of the S9 a good reason to always put the S9 in the local time zone and avoid sleeping at noon?
George: Did you use the humidifier in India? Did you use bottled water? Any other tips?

Re: Reset date/time on S9
Just got back from India. Although Dave, Bill, and Gerry all suggested that we don't mess with the clock, it doesn't work for a 12hr timezone travel. When I went from US to India, the first two nights (which were now a 11am to 6am sleep) got split into two days, which was horrible. So I changed the date and time to India time, after a bit of hit and trial. I ahd to do the adjustments close to noon, and had to bring the time back close to noon, and then the date. Somehow, got it working.
Flew back, and so the machine wasn't used for 48hrs, so tried to set the clock. But the stipid machine insists it's the 12th the moment it was powered up, and is refusing to let me set the date/time correctly. Like the original poster, I too am now stuck with the correct time, but everything is one day ahead.
The folks at ResMed clearly didn't think through issues with International travel. Plus, their logic escapes me. If the user wants to override the data, let him do so. Make the user type in "I am sure" but let the user do it. It doesn't matter if the SD card is in the machine or not, the system simply refuses to set the correct time. Since I didn't use the machine on 10th night (I was flying), I don't mind reseting everything, but even that's not obvious how to do so.
Suggestions would be appreciated. I did set the time first and then tried bringing the date down (like Bill suggested) but that didn't work.
