Salivary Gland swelling and infections

Anyone else developed a salivary gland infection after using a C Pap machine? What did your doctors recommend?

I havent heard of it, all new masks, headgear and hoses should be soaked in warm water and mild detergent then rinsed

It's called sialorrhea and you could Google it for more info. It is not necessarily related to Cpap at all and is a relatively common infection that just pops up sometimes.

Never heard of it directly related to cpap so no telling how or why you might be having the problem. But this is another good reason to make sure you clean your equipment on a regular basis before but especially after you have an illness.
Unlike many in this forum I believe that not keeping your equipment clean regularly can cause illnesses and is not conducive to good therapy. No offense to anyone just my opinion.

I have a tendency to develop salivary stones and that can block the ducts and lead to infection. Don't know why this is the only thing except curly hair I seem to have inherited from my father. Some people are just prone to these (thanks, Dad!).

Dry mouth can contribute to this so the CPAP connection could be related to a dry mouth. Try the normal things for dry mouth--nasal mask or pillows, humidification, drink plenty of fluids, and there are products to keep your mouth moister and to stimulate salivation to keep the ducts flushed--ask your dentist. Your dentist can also show you how to gently massage the ducts too (not where there's already an infection, though).

I'm fortunate never to have an infected one, but my dad used to suffer a lot of pain from them. So hang in there and I hope it clears up soon. Oh, ask you dentist about applying heat or cold to see if either will help the current infection (check with your dentist FIRST!).

I'm experiencing occasional difficulty with my salivary glands....and I've suspected a connection with my CPAP use. My pressure is running around 10-cm.....and I'm using mouth tape.

My AHI score is nearly always below 1.0......and salivary infections may be about the only problem I have with my therapy.

I have had this infection. The stone dissolved away with antibiotics. I never thought about my CPAP machine being a contributor.
It is so painful. I used a warm compress under my chin.

yeah, I think there's gotta be some serious problems, if not, damage with your glands. I've found a good dental health care facility that can diagnose and give you proper dental attention at dentistry roseville.
