New Full Face Mask and ??...

Post by DisneyFan » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:17 am

Well, I went from the ladies Resmed Swift LT to the Resmed Ultra Mirage Full Face mask, I was waking up with a dry throat and felt uncomfortable with the nasal pillows when using the Swift, plus I found it uncomfortable when moving around during sleep.

I tried the Ulrtra Mirage Full Face mask for 2 nights and the pressure on my face was unbearable. I tried several sizes and small was the one best for my face. I try to losen up the straps but felt air coming out from the bottom. Also, I seem to be having a little more trouble breathing with this mask than with the nasal pillows. I'm not sure but does anything have to change with the cpap maching setting when changing to a full face mask?

Follow the mask fitting instructions (in the manual) carefully - the placement of the top bar changes the way maks fits on the bottom.

UMFF maual

I find the pressure feels milder -- easier to breathe out against -- when I use the UMFF when compared to nasal pillows masks. Some people feel they need to raise the pressure a bit when swithcing to a full face mask.

How do I raise the pressure? I am currently on 7cm h20. I will have to play with the mask again tonight, when I woke up this morning I had marks on my face from it!

I had the same problem going from nasal pillows to the Ultima. The Quattro is the newer version of Resmed's Ultima, and much more comfortable (for me). When I use nasal pillows I use the FX, which I did find comfortable , but did get dry mouth. I found using Poligrip strips between my lips solved my dry mouth problem. I found out about them through postings on this forum, and they seem to work extremely well.
