Ontario residents--are you happy with your equipment provdr?

Post by DaveL » Wed Mar 31, 2010 1:34 pm

I'm not. I'm from Toronto--Mississauga actually.

I won't mention names, but it would be incredible to find a supplier with good equipment that knows what they are doing!

It's mask time and I won't go back to the terrible company that hasn't served me well.

I'm not sure what you're looking for but I have done a little bit of searching and found 3 or 4 that were pretty good and some that were pretty bad. If you're still interested ... PM me...

I suspect that one's experience with any given company depends as much on the RRT one deals with as it does on the company the RRT works for.

I have experience with two Toronto area DMEs. I can't say that I have much respect or confidence in any of the RRTs I've dealt with . My hope is that there are some good ones out there; I just haven't found any.
I'm workin' on it.

Not happy with my provider here in Kitchener either. I found that like many on this board the provider just wanted to sell me the machine that they had in mind with little concern for what I actually wanted. I had to "fight" with them to sell me a Resmed S8 Elite. When I bought it I knew that the S8 Elite II was already out in the US and I wanted to wait to buy that but they convinced me that it wasn't coming out in Canada "for months, if ever" - of coure they started selling it shorty after I bought it.

I just bought an S9 online for about 1/3 the cost of buying it Ontario.

Good for you Can you tell us where we can buy on line in Canada for a good price. We are being charged way too much for the same product!

Hi. i am a rt with clinical sleep in vancouver.. we have a online cpap store ... its hard to compete with cpap dot coms machines prices but our mask prices are pretty close. Free shipping if over 100.00 . I think finding a company that has good follow up service is hard , we have rts to talk to if you have any questions . We have been operating for years as a full service clinic but have just started this site so if you have any feedback please let me know.. we have started some video tutorials with more to come.. if you would like to see something specific let me know as well.. cheers steve (clinicalsleepdotcom)

The only reason I'm compliant is because I participated in groups like this one.

I wish the DME suppliers had to endure a sleep study, and a trial or test period wearing their equipment for an entire evening. Until they managed to keep it on for an 8 hour sleep.

Matter of fact, I wish my sleep specialist had the same experience!

The next time I need equipment I'll be checking ebay, other lists, and internet suppliers. I'm sure that I can buy much more cheaply that way than I can through our "subsidized" system that establishes such high prices with so little service. YMMV

Sorry...I bought it online from a US company - cpapdotcom. Resmed doesn't allow shipping to Canada so I had it shipped to a UPS store in Niagara Falls and picked it up there. Well worth the price difference in my opinion. The only problem is that Resmed has recently started some weird "Minimum Internet Pricing" so that the price of my S9 and humidifier increased by almost $400 to around $1100.

Hey Dave. Our boss has sleep apnea and has tired every mask on the planet so he is a great resource for us as rts . He uses the fx most of the time now.. he is on a pressure of 15. How does everybody like the new s9 platform?? We have just started getting our orders in and starting pt's on them.. not too much feedback yet..its nice to have another option for heated circuits instead of tube warmers.. the new fisher paykel looks pretty cool as well. steve.

My DME is in Oakville and has been very helpful and responsive. They have spent a lot of time with me picking a machine and fitting two masks and have also been very responsive to my telephone queries and requests for advice. My wife and I have been in Florida since January and my humidifier stopped working just last week. I called my DME in Oakville and they immediately arranged for me to exchange my 4Hi humidifier for a new one at a DME here in Sarasota. I pick it up tomorrow. That is real service because the machine warranty officially doesn't cover the machine in the US because it was purchased in Canada; they never even brought that up.

Now, as for my Sleep Doctor.....
Don't get me going.

SleepyBobR==would you please send me a pm with the name of your equipment supplier? I would appreciate it.

Sounds like excellent service.

My sleep specialist is out of Credit Valley Hospital. Hope yours is not.

Hey Dave. its the resmed swift fx. Its there new nasal pillow mask. good for people who dont like much on there face or have a steep nasal bridge and get some pressure points from standard nasal masks. Do you use a nasal mask or full face mask , could do a chinstrap or full mask if your mouth is dry each morning but depends how much of an issue it is... the mask isn't to bad , mostly good feedback from my pt's . some returns.. go to resmeds site , they have a good video on it.. we do carry resmed but cant advertize on our site. .. cheers Steve..
