ResScan Install Adventure

Post by jweeks » Wed Mar 31, 2010 11:14 pm

Hi,

My ResMed card reader arrived today (thanks cpap.com), so I wanted to get it installed right away and see what the numbers look like.

Attempt #1 was on my Windows XP box. I tried both 3.7 and 3.10. The installer appears to run OK. But when I start the program, it gives me an error about a network resource, then it bails out looking for ResScan.msi.

Attempt #2 was on my Laptop. It has Windows 7. I tried 3.10. The installer runs right up to the USB driver installed. That bails out with a message about an unsupported system. I suspect that it is due to having 64-bit windows.

Attempt #3 was on my Macintosh, which has an XP VM running in Parallels. I wasn't expecting the card reader to work, but I did want to see if the installer would work on XP. In fact, it installed fine. As expected, the download couldn't find the card reader. I piddled around with it for about an hour and a half. I finally figured out the magic mouse click to get Parallels to present a USB port to the VM (the trick is that the VM has to be down). I rebooted XP, plugged in the card reader, started ResScan, and it told me that I had download data ready. That really amazed me. In fact, I have been amazed over and over with Parallels on the Macintosh.

I have had a lot of cobwebs in my head since moving to the ResMed machine. I don't know why. The data download didn't shed any light on it. I have been getting between 7 and 8 hours of sleep, my leak line is almost totally flat at zero, I had only 1 AI over the past 7 days, and I am averaging 3.5 HI.

I think my VAuto experiment is done. My normal BiLevel numbers were 13.5/20. The VAuto stays right at 16 (it is set for 13/22 with a pressure support of 3). That tells me that it is running at the minimum level. Given that I haven't felt 100% since starting this experiment, I am going to try it on my 13.5/20 numbers for a few nights, and then go back to the M-Series machine for a few nights. I am also going to give the oximeter another run to see if I am getting desats.

BTW, the ResMed data card only gave me 1 night of detail data. Is that normal, or did I miss something on the data download?

I use ResScan 3.10 on my Mac, same setup as you. When I initiate download, there is a 'data download' option box that should come on and you need to check 'all summary data' to pull all the contents in your card. Hope this solves it.

I use 3.7, and as dtsm states there is an option for summary data, but you are wanting the detailed data which needs checked in the other boxes. On 3.7, you have the options of 1 (default) 2, 5 etc. As the VPAP Adapt SV only stores 3 days of detailed data I use the 5 option which gives me 3 days (if I only download every 3 days).
I run it on my Vista laptop without any issues. Basically you have to install the software then go back after restarting and run the USB driver installation.
Machine: ResMed S9 AutoSet
Mask: Drive FF w/ associated headgear
Humidifier: ResMed H5i
Software: ResScan 3.10 w/ cable

Hi John

I run Win XP Pro on my Mac with VMware and runs just great...

As Ruffinit says... you will need to DL the Optional USB drivers unless you have already done that with other Apps...

When you open your Mac and Open Parallels...
place your SD card in the reader...
then open ResScan 3.10...
an optional data download box will come up and your will have to Open a New Patient...
enter the info for yourself and the DL box will give you some options...
choose ( as Ruffinit says) all Detailed Data if you want to see all your data... it will give you breath by breath Flow for the session (24 hours)
choose (as dtsm says) all summary data if you want just the basics... for the last session
choose Discard Previous Data so that you don't over write other data
choose the check box (can't remember exact words) for always choose that data method
You will then see your data by graphs... (read the Clinical Manual)
When you close... choose Save Data
Close Patient
Close ResScan
NOW... you can "eject" the card by right clicking and choosing that option
DO NOT just take the card out... it is just like your Mac and requires you to eject removeable media (but with Windows... the consequences is corruption)

There are several other threads to related to NOT having issues with corruption and "Skewing Data" of data that you show read over and follow... they are on todays date...

Hope that helps...
