New Pressure! New Mask!

Post by Gilley » Thu Apr 01, 2010 10:48 am

Had my first month review. AHI was about 8.7 for the average. Mask Nasal LT had some high leak numbers. My pressure got pushed up from 11 to 13 and I got the Mirage Quattro Full Face Mask. (med) I tried it laying down at home with the new pressure and I couldnt keep it on my face! I mean @ a pressure of 13 it leaked like crazy I messed with it for about 30 minutes...I tried it with the staps loose I tried it with the straps tight. Unless I pulled the straps super unbearably tight I had a leak somewhere. I had to sleep with the Nasal LT last night and then I only got about 3 hours and had to take it off the pressure was so strong my nose felt numb from the pressure .

I also looked for the mask fit option but couldnt find it in the menus?

I'll take any suggestions anyone has as I feel like i'm starting all over again....
Thanks for the help.

I don't know about nasal masks (they wouldn't seal for me) but I do know about high pressure. I know that the Drive (or Zzz) FF masks work very well with high pressure, are comfortable, light and flexible. Some folks using high pressure use the Quattro FFM, but I had no luck with that mask.

I've gone to 14 (without software I might actually max out at my high setting of 15) without leaks wearing the RespCare Hybrid https://www.cpap.com/productpage/RespCa ... -Mask.html. Some wearing the Hybrid have even higher pressures.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM

I haven't had any problems with bad leaks on the Activa masks, although one thing I do find is that ResMed usually suggest the straps should be loose but I find that wearing them tight helps. I tend to slacken off the top headrest straps and tighten the facial straps more and find that helps for me.

I've worn my Quattro FFM with a pressure of 20cm H2O without any leaks at all. The mask was "snug" but not tight. It was comfortable to wear, and left no red marks on my face in the morning.

Try fitting the mask to your face in the middle of the day when you're wide awake. Take your time, and adjust the straps and forehead knob until you stop the leaks while sitting. Then lie down and fine tune your settings.

The Quattro is a great mask and worth the effort to try to get it to fit. Unfortunately, not every mask fits every face. I hope in your case, you can get it to fit properly.
Good Luck!

To activate the Mask Fitting Feature, hold down the Start/Stop key for 3 seconds. It will go to your set pressure, for 3 minutes.
