Being told something different than here
Re: Being told something different than here
I put the humidification down to 1.5 and didn't have sinus pain this morning. My pressure is supposed to be 8. I almost threw the thing out yesterday but ok today.

Good to hear that you're feeling better today! Making small changes really can make a difference. It can sometimes take a while just to acclimate to CPAP too. We're not used to having air blowing up our nose, after all!kcarlee wrote:I put the humidification down to 1.5 and didn't have sinus pain this morning. My pressure is supposed to be 8. I most often have had my humidifier set at 1.5 when I use my Activa LT nasal mask. When I use nasal pillows or full-face mask, I prefer it at 2.0. My home is not heated, which I'm sure makes a difference. I haven't been using CPAP long enough to know how much, if any, my humidity need will differ in the summer. I expect it'll vary season-to-season, though.
I hope you continue to make good progress! I'm sure you'll find that some days/nights will be better than others, but I hope you get good results from your therapy.

ONe month in and doing well!! With all the wonderful help here! More energy, sleeping less and not waking every couple hours. Im at pressure 8 and could someone tell me about the AHI and HI and AI. I know what they stand for but is the number how many events every hour you are having or for all night? Mine are between 2-6 for the hypopneas and .3 for the apneas.
Re: Being told something different than here
That's fantastic! AHI, HI and AI are the average number of events you're having per hour. AHI = HI + AI. Ideally, you want to see AHI less than 5 and AI as close to zero as possible. AI is the most important number.kcarlee wrote:ONe month in and doing well!! With all the wonderful help here! More energy, sleeping less and not waking every couple hours. If your numbers are too high, you may want to pay attention to your leak rate. If you're losing too much therapy air via mask or mouth leaks it can affect the effectiveness of your therapy. With the ResMed S8 machines, a leak rate of 0.4 L/s (24 L/min) or less is considered "acceptable", but the ideal leak rate with those machines is zero. There's a "mask setting" on the S8 Elite II machine, and in order for the leak rate to be calculated properly the mask setting needs to be correct. For the Activa mask, the correct mask setting is "Activa." Some of the other mask settings aren't quite so intuitive, though.
I hope that you continue to feel well. You've done a great job in working things out!
