How many times has this happened to you?
How many times has this happened to you?
Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night because my CPAP was beeping at me. I reached for the night stand and it wasn't there. Instead it was on the ground dumped upside down with the water from the humidifier poured all over the carpet. I just took of the mask and slept without it last night.
I am assuming that I went to rollover and the CPAP hose got wrapped around my hand/arm and I ended up pulling it of the night stand. This is the third time it has happened to me. The first time I just left it unplugged and it worked fine the next night. The second time it would give an error when I tried to turn it on so I had to go to the DME to replace it with another one. It looks like this time I am going to have to replace it again.
Surely I am not the only one this is happening to. Does anyone know of anything that can be done to fix this problem? Three times in 9 months seems like an awful lot if I am going to have to replace the machine each time.
THanks!

Why are you keeping it on the bedstand? I always thought it was supposed to be placed lower than your mattress for rainout purposes, especially since you're using your hh. Perhaps putting it lower down might help. And if you tugged at it, it wouldn't have so far to fall. I keep mine on the floor and it's fine. Or try rerouting the hose in an upward position over your head so you can't do that anymore. I can't imagine the DME being too happy if you keep ruining your machines in the same way each time. You must sleep pretty damn deeply, you lucky person!

I keep my APAP on the floor next to my bed. I started doing this once I received the heated humidifier and because I don't want the cat to knock it off the night stand. It sits on a board just between my bed and the night stand.
This helps keep it level and the filters aren't blocked by the carpet. It allows me to slide the board out without tipping the machine over. I have already had to replace on machine because of water in the motor, I think that one time was enough!
Best,
Teri

If your bed has a headboard, just get a simple clamp from Home Depot and clamp it to your headboard, then use a velcro strap to tie the hose to the clamp. This will solve the problem, you might need a longer hose though. I like having the machine at eye level, easier to turn on and off etc.
Good luck,

WOW I am shocked! Glad I am not the only one who keeps mine on the floor. I was told when I got my cpap to NEVER put it on the floor but...I have no nightstand now that I am living back at home just not room for it...I hvae one of those shoot I dont know what its called like the lap table thingy to use while in bed I fold it up so the legs are underneath so its flat and I have my cpap on that and can slide it in and out from under my bed (I do child care the kids play in my room during the day and well dont need them messing with that and they are good about leaving it alone, they know that is Miss Heather's air to help me breathe when I sleep LOL.(the 3 yr old said 'dont you need your air?' one day when I went to lay down and didnt put my mask on right away) Surprisingly, they arent scared of me with my mask I do have the CC so that might help it a lil bit. In using the CC I have 11 ft of hose and dont know how yall only use 6 feet. I have my 6 ft hose for my 420 and then my doc used a connector piece for my CC (They swear it still records the info fine on my machine) I went to use my FF mask one night and I did pull my machine slam off the little stand I originally had it on. I couldnt have any less than 10 ft of hose or I would have a really hard time...also, my hose is run up behind the headboard and around the bedpost and that gives me the freedom to toss and turn with no prob during the night...

Yikes. Haven't had a problem like that. Knock on wood.
I have my hose routed through a large hardware type hook that I screwed into the wall above my head. I did that to keep the hose out of my way when I toss and turn. It still reaches the humidifier which is well below my body. But not on the floor. Doesn't the filters pick up a lot of lint and/or dirt by putting the machine on the floor?

you can buy a clip that uses a little velcro strap with a clip on it, that wraps around the hose and clips to the bedsheet. I think the hosts of this site sell it? You could probably make one also.
I use the strain relief clip in addition to keeping my machine on the floor. I am a fairly active sleeper.
