Do you "believe" in OSA?

Post by LinkC » Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:28 am

I just ran across an article by someone who doesn't! It's a real hoot.
Apparently, if we can just learn to breathe with our mouths shut, our problems are over!
Who knew it was that simple?

This will either make you chuckle...
or make you mad.
Or both.

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Well, think of it as the first part of an adventure:
Peter Banning: I do not believe in fairies.
Tinkerbell: Every time someone says 'I do not believe in fairies', somewhere there's a fairy that falls down dead.
Peter Banning: I DO NOT BELIEVE IN FAIRIES!
[Tinkerbell falls down the stairs of the dollhouse unconscious]
Peter Banning: Oh my God, I think I've killed it.
That leads eventually to understanding:

Now, why didn't I think of that? Just walk around all day with my mouth shut and then tape my mouth shut at night? What a wonderful, intelligent cure for sleep apnea! So, all of these pulminologists, sleep doctors, and patients are all under the delusion that we have a problem called OSA and all we needed was to keep our mouths shut?

I think I will stick with my cpap machine and my friends on this forum, thank you! I like feeling like I've slept, rather than a truck just ran over me.

Regards to all,

Jersey Girl

Can't say I read the whole thing in detail. Time is too valuable to waste. I've heard this saying and find it appropriate, "They speak with authority in their ignorance." Don't find the blog funny, nor does it make me angry. Doesn't merit that much attention. I do find it funny that a blog about asthma has someone blowing hot air. That's who needs their blog mouth taped.

How come when I fall asleep and breath thru my nose my O2 levels fall? If I use a CPAP machine they fall only slightly? It is only while Iim moving around with my mouth open that my O2 level rise. Go figure.

Do you "believe" in OSA?

Post by SleepyBobR » Tue Mar 23, 2010 11:43 am

Now, this makes me wonder what this person really believes? If he actually believes what he is saying is true, why does he believe it? What evidence does he have that people suffering with OSA revert to normal by simply keeping their mouths closed while sleeping? If such evidence does exist, he should present it. This would be a true revelation indeed! If he has no such evidence for his hypothesis, which I suspect, then why does he believe it (if he does) and what possible purpose is served by writing such nonsense?

I know one thing - I will not be taping my mouth shut tonight and going to sleep without my CPAP!

Crackpots don't need any evidence! It just gets in the way of their free-thinking...

But he will read it. Give it to the moron.
