New Mask...No more pantyhose!!

Post by LinkC » Mon Mar 22, 2010 6:10 am

Just got a replacement Hybrid last week. My old one was about 7 or 8 months old. Now I know why they recommend replacement every 60 days! What a difference! (And I also learned my insurance doesn't require a co-pay for replacement masks...what a deal!)

That "tacky" feel of new silicone is pretty much gone from my old cushion and pillows...I hadn't noticed just how much, and that makes ALL the difference. I also realized I had the old headgear adjusted improperly. It was riding way too far forward on my head. When I adjusted the new one properly I was able to get a decent seal on the pillows WITHOUT using tights, pantyhose, elastic loops...and sadly, no more nipple grease!

OK, the pillow seal IS a whole lot more forgiving of mask movement with a little dab of the grease, so I think I'll keep on with that...

But my leak line is virtually a straight line now, with just a few minor blips. And yes, I'll be replacing cushions and pillows WAY more often now...

Cool to hear even experienced pros like you, LinkC, are still learning. What to do now with all those pantyhose lying around?

Good question! Know any one-legged women who need a Triple-X Wide? I have a selection of colors...

(Now THERE's an image that'll stick in your head all day, huh?)

@scrapper: Nah, we're not into ropes and knots. We use duct tape...
