Smartcard reader problem

Post by pastamasta » Sun Mar 21, 2010 12:04 pm

Hi!
I have Respironics REMstar auto with C-flex.I've recently bought a Smartcard reader and installed Encore Pro 1.8 software .I've tried to download the data from the smartcard after creating correctly a new patient account. But then it shows the following error message:"An error has occurred while downloading from SmartCard . Error Source:EncorePro .Error Number:D" and it downloads nothing. The cardreader light turns to green for several seconds and then it turns to red again.
I hope you have any suggestions which could help me to download my smartcard data successfully.
Thank you

The software will load on your computer but the drivers are not available if your are using a 64 bit operating system, like Vista or Windows 7. If you go to the Infineer website they have drivers for 64 bit systems BUT I was not able to get it to run. I installed the software on an older XP machine and the drivers work okay.

The newer models by Respironics do not use the credit card but an SD card. There is new software, EncoreViewer 2.2, for the SD card. Since they have moved on, I do not have a lot of faith they will ever fix the driver problem.

If you do a search here, there are some posts about Smartcard errors.

Some people have had to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Others have gne into "Services" in Windows and changed how the device starts.

For those who have PR System One

I read on a post that Encore Pro 2.2 works only with XP.

If you have Windows 7 ( 64bits ) you need to download and install a program that fakes XP named Virtual PC, here is the link for the thread
viewtopic/t5033 ... WIN-7.html

I have XP so I don't need to do that for the moment. If you need more help make a reserch on virtual PC. I can't help you more I haven't use that.

Good luck

First of all, does your machine LOOK like the one in my profile?
WHICH smart card reader did you purchase? (It HAS to be a Mako/Infineer DT3500) (it sounds like it is)
Which drivers did you install? If you have the CD with the software on it, the "correct" drivers are on that CD in a sub-directory named "Smart Card Readers". If you have the wrong drivers installed, they would need to be uninstalled and then run the "Setup.exe" program on the CD. If EP 1.8 is like the previous versions, you need to make sure that your smart card reader is NOT plugged into the computer when you're installing the software.
Also, make sure you do not have your card reader plugged into a hub. It has to be plugged into a USB port that's directly connected to the motherboard.
Check in the EP options to make sure the software is looking for a USB card reader (as opposed to a serial device).

Your suggestions have helped me and I've just managed to fix the problem.
The smartcard reader was connected to the PC while I was trying to install the software and that was the problem.
So I've fixed it and now it works normally.
Thank you!
