What level do you have C-Flex set to ?

If at 3, you might want to try 1 & see if that helps.

Good luck

If you can set CFlex to 1 see what effect that has. Also as an added suggestion when sleeping try to stay as much as you can on your left side.

I am also going to guess that you have GERD of indigestion symptoms (LES readily breached).

Good luck

Actually I don't have GERD and have never had a bout of indigestion.

It's called aerophagia (air eating). The pressure is enough to force air down into your belly. It can make you burp and give you gas.

Dry mouth is a sign that your mask is leaking from the sides. Large leaks mean you aren't getting therapy. Between the dry mouth and the aerophagia, it sounds like your mask isn't a good fit, or your titration could be off.

If you cannot figure a way to keep the mask from leaking and stop the air eating on your own, you probably should talk with your RT or sleep doc to find out if you need a better mask or retitration.

Good luck.

Ugh, I have the same problem. I got some simethicone today--hoping that works for me (you can take it before you go to bed--it's an otc anti-gas pill). Not sure if it'll work, but I'll let you know what happens.

If's a very common problem. You can use the following search to see what others have done about this:

search.php?keywords=aerophagia

Some of the ways to address this include:
  • Use of APAP to reduce pressure until you need it to clear an obstruction.
  • Use of Bi-Level PAP (BiPAP or VPAP) to allow you to better exhale the air and now swallow as much
  • Use of a diet soda in the morning
  • Elevating the head of the bed (or the body) to allow air to better escape
  • Use of OTC meds to help clear gas
Sometimes this happens to me, but not too often.

Hope that helps.
