First Night of S8 Elite Data

Post by snowloft » Wed Oct 19, 2005 4:31 am

I'm hoping to receive some help interpreting this:

Pressure 7.2
AHI = 4.1
AI = 0.0
HI = 4.1
LEAK = 0.36 L/S

According to the manual, the alarm will sound at greater than 0.7 L/S, and the chart they provided shows 0.36 L/S gets ** out of ***** stars, but it is also under the category of "adjust mask"

Things I've noticed:

1. The machine appears to compensate for mask leak. If I leave the mask on the bed running, the pressure will keep increasing to an incredible output. Since I'm keyed in at 7, and the results say 7.2, I'm assuming some of that was used to compensate for the moderate leak.

2. When I take deep breaths, the machine responds by upping the pressure. With the old machine I found myself occasionally running out of air and gasping for breath. This machine feeds me whatever I need for air.

3. This machine has a menu, where you can select the type of mask you are using. Swift was one of the menu options. I didn't check to see if non-Resmed masks were also on the menu.

I guess the only information I'm looking for is whether the AHI is good and indicates effective treatment, or should I be retitrated.

An AHI of under 5 is considered normal. However, you might be able to do better by adjusting your low pressure up a little.

Although, AHI is not the only marker for treatment success. I have an AHI of under 1 regardless of whether my lowest pressure is 8cm or 10cm, but at 10cm I definitely feel better the next day. Unfortunately. the software isn't going to give you definitive feedback regarding success.

Cheers,
BP
