My memory is improving!

Post by tattooyu » Thu Mar 18, 2010 3:07 pm

My memory is improving!

Oh wait--I just said that...

When I was younger, I had a bit of a "Rain Man" ability to remember phone numbers and fairly long strings of numbers. I was a walking telephone book. Well, with the onset of apnea, that ability went. It was very sad, because to me and my friends it was my special gift (besides my music).

I'm happy to report that I am slowly beginning to get my ability back! My overall recall of things is much, much better as well. For instance, today I was ordering something online and remember my entire credit card number (which you lurking hackers would LOVE me to share wouldn't you?) by heart!

Sleep well and live better!

AWesome - from someone who has always had trouble with numbers. They keep rearranging them selves when I am not looking.

Prove it! Post your credit card number here without looking at it.

Congrats!

I've always been able to remember long strings of numbers too. Fortunately, I didn't loose that with OSA.

You'll probably loose it again for the first year after your baby is born.

Hi Tattooyu

THAT IS TERRIFIC NEWS

Well done, Good on you, Mate.

For me, a major aspect of this forum has been to get me thinking again. (We won't go into how well).

Don't be shy about posting your credit card number - mine is -

That's great news Kenny! I'm still trying to remember where I left my memory. For the last 11 years, I attributed it to "mommy brain". But maybe it's apnea related as well. Hope so. I also recall a day when I could remember my credit card number cause I'd give it out on the phone so many times when I ordered stuff. Now I just do it all online and cut and paste so that's probably one piece of info I'll never remember again.

Kenny,

Congratulations! And I know what you mean about keeping track of things. I have a very convoluted time line for my writing. I resorted to all sorts of note files and things (which then I had to remember where I'd put!), but I've begun to not need them nearly as much.

Yay xPAP therapy!

Before i started cpap my memory was realy shot. I am 59 and I was realy woried I was developing alhimers!
After about a month of cpap my memory slowley got better, now it's better than it was 5 years ago.

But there was a bright side to it. I read a lot of science fiction and it used to be a month or so after I read a
book I could read it again because I didn't rember the first thing about it. I wound up having a lot of duplicate
books too.

That is great

I have a knack for remembering useless things I can't remember anything helpful, but my brain holds on to things that aren't that important
