Yup

But did you see the note you posted where it says 'it is not persistent'

That is the gotcha.

Cheers

Speaking as a software professional, while the 3.7 software is capable of displaying the detailed data we all need, the UI is pathetic. From not saving state (which patient was last to not saving the data download) to the hoops you have to jump to to get the detailed data up (instead of caching a days worth of data it reloads each day, each time).

I think there is no reason to apologize, they've provided a solution that is just good enough.

Yeah, the Respironics Encore Pro 2.2 and EncoreViewer software is also really, really bad! It almost rises to a "mid-1990's garage shop programmer" standard for functionality, features, usability, and design!

Also, per another thread here, it appears that you have to have a DME or the manufacturer manually upgrade the firmware on these units? Canon and the other camera manufacturers make that simple enough through a menu pick and the standard CF card that they use for data storage for images. Simply copy the new firmware to the card, insert, and select "upgrade firmware" from the menu. The same could apply to these machines easily enough through the SD card, Smartcard, or whatever they were using on any given unit.

These folks are really borderline incompetent at software developemnt ... It looks like 3.10 is better though? I can only judge by the screen shots here, haven't tried to use it.

If you tell ResScan you just want the most recent day of detailed data, that is all it will load.

It is theraeputic device firmware/software, not consumer entertainment firmware/software..... there are standards/rules related to clinical quality and safety outcomes that that it needs to adhere to.

Cheers,

Bill

I am not talking about content. They are updating the firmware. I am talking about the chosen method and field servicability to ensure previously sold machines are properly updated. It would, of course, be through the provider menu.

It is quite a health and safety issue to make sure these machines are up to date with **bug fixes**. Sometimes there is more risk in not fixing what you knwo is broken then in fixing them. Witness Toyota.

If your DME is like mine, they are pretty clueless when it comes to the detail level of these machines. They should have the data available to be sure every machine they have sold/rented is updated. I question their ability to execute though, their incentive to do so, and the technical monitoring and communicatioins to set them in motion.

Edit: Hmm, looks like they are getting with it. This for the Alice PDx:

The Alice PDx is field upgradeable, so as new features are added,
firmware upgrades will be made available, without having to return
your device for service. As updates become available, you will be
able to access them via web downloading.

I think this is still true of Respironics Encore Pro 2.2. The software is dog-tired slow.
Perhaps less so with ResScan 3.10. They got a lot right with the upgrade from 3.7.

Agreed - bugfixes on machines - and upgrades to better capabilities - could easily be done on a machine like the S9 via the SD card and a firmware binary file. If the same flow generator is good enough for both bipap and apap - and especially since it can do fast pressure changes (like FOT) - there is no reason you shouldn't be able to upgrade either machine to a AVS machine with a simple binary firmware upgrade.

Compared to SD's, Smartcards may not hold enough data for firmware upgrades. They really are kind of small in that department, aren't they? The whole .bin file on the Respironics smartcard is a static 32K. That's about all there is room for is that 32K data binary file, I think.

Did YOU see the note AFTER that where it said that it is and is fixed in 3.7?

As I said I have been downloading ALL summary and detailed data with Resscan 3.7 for over a year and never once had to reselect that option.

Select all and then check the box in the bottom left hand corner to make "all" your default

I probably should add that I use "Quick Start" - dunno if that is why you don't see it?
