Hi,
I've tried numerous times to install this software Encore Pro2. It fails every single time due to being unable to find a database server. I continually get this message, "database can only be installed on a service running NTFS file system.
I've downloaded all updates and still cannot get this to work. Any ideas?
I'm using Windows XP.
Also some people wrote about using EncoreViewer instead of EncorePro2. I don't know if this will be easier but I never found the ability to download it on bittorrent, I guess nobody has that to upload from.
what do you suggest? At this point I am only going to "read" my card from my Respironics machine if I got to the medical place that gave me the machine. Ugh!

Re: Encore Pro 2
Double click on 'My Computer'.
Right click on 'Drive C.
Pull down to 'Properties'.
Where it says 'File System:' do you see 'NTFS'?
If not, apparently your computer's hard disk is not properly formatted to work with Encore Pro 2.
This leads me to think a couple things:
a. your computer is really old if the hard drive is formatted to FAT32.
b. your hard drive is really small if that's the case.
c. your computer is likely operating at less than optimal speed for Encore Pro 2 (< 1.8 Ghz).
or
d. You've installed a very small, old WinXP Virtual Machine on your mac/linux/windows 7, whatever.
In the first case, your machine is probably not going to handle Encore Pro very well. My laptop is a Dothan 1.8 GHz machine. It fairly creeps on my machine, even though it's supposed to be similar in speed to other machines rated at 2.6 GHz due to the Dothan architecture.
In the second case, you'll need to recreate your virtual machine with NTFS. Don't expect miracles. In either case.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Encore Pro 2
What machine are you using? You may be better off with EncorePro 1.8. (look for Respironics-EncorePro 1.8.iso 674 MB)
The torrent file you are using may not be a good version. The correct file is EncorePro2.2.zip and is only 171 MB.
If your hard disk is formatted as FAT32, you can buy an external drive and format it as NTFS and install there.

Re: Encore Pro 2
I've tried installing it on my laptop which is the NTFS and it doesn't work.
Still says it needs whatever it was I said it was asking for in my initial post. It wants a server!!!
What server could it possibly be looking for????
(I was trying to install it on my desktop, that is FAT 32 and it won't work there, obviously)
Can't figure out why it won't install until I tell it what SERVER to look for the DATA.
I'm sooooo frustrated. Would appreciate any advice at this point.
Thanks,
Ilene

Re: Encore Pro 2
One thing you should know... when I go to install this software it really tries to install and I will tell you where it gets hung up....
"Database Server and Authentication Method" is the window that just won't work for me.
It asks for the "Database Server you are installing to"
My pull down menu choice is [local]ENCOREPRO2
Then I have to select either "Windows Authentication" or "SQL Server using the Login and Password below" and there are two spots to fill in login and password for SQL server.
I've tried both ways, Windows Authentication and SQL Server with neither of them working for me.
The little window ALWAYS comes up telling me it "failed to connect to server".
I don't know what else to do now.
What is this server stuff and does anyone know what choices I"m supposed to make here?>???

Re: Encore Pro 2
I had a very similar problem installing Encore Pro 2.2 to my two Windows XP machines. The installation kept failing with the error message about not being able to find the database, on boht machines.
I finally overcame the problem by completely uninstalling my anti-virus program, which was Zone Alarm Internet Security. It wasn't enough to just turn Zone Alarm off - I had to completely uninstall it (from both computers), and then EP 2.2 installed just fine. I replaced ZA Internet Security with Microsoft's free Security Essentials program, and now EP 2.2 is working fine on both of those computers.
You might try unstalling your anti-virus program, to see if that makes a difference for you. It did for me.
