OT what I found out at eye docs today

This is weird. Seems people that have reoccurring corneal abrasion tend to have Rosacea. That causes an enzyme in the eye that binds the cornea to the eye to break down and not work. They put me on 100mg Doxycyclhyc once a day (pill) and one drop of Fluorometholone eye drops once a day. Said there was a little better than a 50/50 chance this would work for me. If not, then they do a 20 minute procedure where they poke a bunch of holes in my cornea and put a bandage lens over it and let it heal like it needs to heal. Said that would be like one of the events like I just had, so I'm not really willing to go thru that thing again so soon, but will do it if the meds don't work. Anyway, wish me luck!

BTW, they said eye problems and cpap were something they saw all the time.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Since I've been on CPAP and using a nasal mask (Comfort Gel - Respironics), my right eye dripped constantly. My general doctor said that I had a sagging lower lid, and that surgery could fix it. I switched to the Mirage Vista mask, and my eye does not "leak" anymore. Must be that the larger, heavier mask was pulling the eye area down.

Amazing how sleep apnea seems to affect every other area of our health. Thanks for this enlightening post. I hope the medication works.
