Alarms

Post by mummy2hollyandmatthew » Mon Oct 17, 2005 12:43 pm

hey all i have a quick question for u experts lol
do they do alarms for bigger people when i say bigger i mean children over 1 to adult hood?

matthew angel care alarm we bought is broken, i was on major panic earlier when he slept coz i had no alarm telling me if he stopped breathing

anyhow i got onto the community nurse, who bought a alarm round, BUT its a neonatal one and this one is only meant to a baby under 1, matthew is 15 months, they said they dont have any others at all, as they only deal with babies with apnea not a toddler, they said it should work but he may pull it off as he moves or it may go off to much, which to be honest is pretty poor, i need sleep in order to respond to matthew if he needs me to, if im getting woken 20 times a night due to this one not working how much
se am i gonna be to matthew and my 3 old daughter

i called the main hosp in london and they where pretty crap they told me my hosp have to provide matthew with one, which they have but its not apporate for his age,
the doc who we saw last week said they would provide matthew with a alarm when we nx go bk, i wasnt expecting his alarm t break so early on, tyipcal isnt it

so anyhow i will get to my point now lol
so they have alarms for older people? i need to know when matthew stops breathing otherwise he could die and i need one that is realible,
i was told my hosp would have to order one but its the NHS they r poor, like there gonna order a specila monitor just for him

so does anyone know if they do them and if so what time and how does it work, i need as much info so i can get bk to my hops and say yes u can get him one blah blah

thanks
natalie

Try doing a search on: "respiratory monitors" (use the quote marks, too)
I did and there were lots of things that came up, but since I don't know exactly what you're looking for, I can't suggest a particular site.

Good luck and best wishes,

Can you try calling all of the medical supply stores in your area? I would call anyone that would listen. Maybe if they don't carry them, they can suggest someone who would.

The very best of luck to you!
