Software....I want to know how

Post by slibhart » Sun Mar 07, 2010 9:01 am

Yesterday, I figured out that I have a smart card and a machine that does read outs....a S8 Escape system.

1. Where do I get the software? From the research I have done, it looks like it is no longer carried on certain vendor sites.

I really would like to become more involved in my therapy and understanding what I can see on reports from read outs.

If anyone has a source for the software, please let me know. I really want to do this

Thanks!

For an Escape... all that the software with give you is hours used. So it's not worth buying it.

I don't know how long you've had the machine but I turned my escape in for an Elite II for an upcharge of $140. Now I can read daily my hypopneas and apnea.

I have had it since November and have Kaiser insurance. I will check with them but doubt that I can trade it in at this point.

Thanks so much for the answers!!

From Kaiser you're lucky you got an Escape instead of a window fan!

Wow Slinky....I have always had excellent care from Kaiser....they even replaced my knee and got it going again. The Doc's in the regular medical world couldn't diagnose my sleep apnea during the year I didn't have Kaiser....just told me I was lethargic and depressed. Kaiser hit the nail "head on". I am very grateful to them for the working knee and for finding out I have sleep apnea. They get my vote!!

Should check with your Ins. Co - that upcharge may very well be a violation their contracted agreement.

It is definitely a ripoff either way.

slibhart, after they replaced your knee and you were finished with recovery and therapy, could you jog / run on it?

Or do you have to treat the knee like it's made of glass?

slibhart,

Don't know what the S8 Escape supports insofar as data reporting, but here are links to available software and card-reading hardware:

I'm glad to read that Kaiser has done well by you, SlibHart. They seem to be the Apria of insurances/healthcare networks.

From what I understand, you are not supposed to jog/run with a knee replacement. I have had a few occassions where running across a street was necessary etc.....no problems whatsoever. I can get down on the knee and garden, climb up things etc....go for long walks...no challenges. The biggiest thing I am grateful to Kaiser for is diagnosing my OSA. No other doctor came even close....the Kaiser doc's listened, paid attention and figured it out.
