Ultra Mirage II Nasal Mask

Post by kingsnort » Tue Oct 11, 2005 7:12 pm

Wow what a great site.
Just new to the CPAP world and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the Ultra Mirage II from Resmed ?
My issue with trying masks is that they all have left a very nasty sore on the bridge of my nose. ( pressure sore ) Mirage II claims to be the best for not creating these sores. I am presently using the Comfort curve but it is leaking on both the elbow joints. Think I will return it to the supplier.

If it is working for you except for the leaks you might try using saran wrap or teflon tape at the joint. This does stop that leak. Personally I found the Mirage Activa irritates the bridge of my nose less if you want to get a nasal mask.

Try taking the comfort curve apart and then put it back together and see if it does better. I have never had the leak you are mentioning on mine.

Activa, Activa, Activa, Activa......do I need to say it again?
LOL. This mask works the best for me and without any pressure sores or redness int he morning. In fact, it has to be ridiculously loose when applying and the air pressure when you turn on the cpap, forms a bellows like seal. Ot's made by the same company as the Ultra Mirage.

It's a great mask.

Microfoam tape from 3M is great for preventing sores on the bridge of the nose and can be reused a number of times. I use the 1 inch size. It comes on a roll for about $3. Much better than moleskin as not as sticky.

Just got an Ultra Mirage which helped greatly with a cold as Rested Gal has said in the past. I cranked the humidity up to the top number and it allowed me to sleep instead of coughing all night. Thanks for the info, Rested Gal.

Thanks to all for your help.
I wrapped a few turns around the elbow fitting with plumbers tape. I think it is made of silicone . Its very thin. Works great and no elbow leaks.
I tried the activa, but the end of my nose touches the mak and I think this would be uncomfortable all night.
I ordered a ultra mirageII to try. Let you now when It arrives
