denture sores

Post by sleepyjan » Wed Mar 03, 2010 4:52 am

am using a soft gel nasal mask.been using it for a week now and my upper lip is getting a bad sore inside my mouth....I'm assuming it'd from the pressure of the mask to lip, lip to denture, denture to gum sandwich........ny suggestions out there? I"m sure I'd do much better at getting used to this new fangled life saver if my mouth didn't hurt so bad ..........

Hi,
I am finally taking the bottom one's out as I kept finding them flipped all over in
my mouth???? Then last night it was the top ones????

I usually don't have any problems with them at all, but now with my being new on
this treatment, I guess I will just have to go to bed without them!!! They are not
staying in place!

Good Luck,
Debbbie

An option might be to use nasal pillows, which don't put any pressure against the teeth or jaw. You could continue to wear your dentures, but use nasal pillows that only press against the nose.

Jonh,
What are nasal pillows.
Also been wanting to ask you are you still so tired all the time?
How long before you started to feel like you were alive again?

My doc siad he now thinks I have Narcolepsy, so I now have to see
a Neurologist!! I just am so tired, but not sleeping in the am, or
for days at a time.

Right now I am so tired, and falling asleep sitting here doing this.

Oh, another question, did you ever have to take one of the drugs for sleepiness?

Answer what you feel comfortable with, and thanks again.

Debbie

Nasal pillows act like little stopper in your nostrils. Here's a selection of nasal pillow products:

Lots of folks like the Swift FX nasal pillows:

Do I use medication for sleepiness? Yes. Both to stay alert and to get to sleep if needed. I use ProVigil due to excessive daytime sleepiness. It helps me stay alert. I also use Sonata (generic form) as needed to get through my central sleep apnea as I fall asleep. But I try to stay away from the Sonata as much as possible.

I don't sleep with mine in. It will make your mouth really sore. Try sleeping without them and see how you do. I really don't think you'd need to change masks, of course unless you really want to. Let us know how things go.
