Yay finally got my gear!

Post by pdean44 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:27 am

Today I got to go in and pick up my gear. I have a resmed elite II machine with a heated humidifier built in. I selected the Resmed activa lt for my 1st mask.
got to try it for 2 hours by taking a nap when I got home. Mask seemed fairly comfortable. Now we will see how this treatment goes.

Forgot to ask if the machine I have is a good one or not? Hopefully I wont lose air through my mouth with this set up.

Yes, I think you have a good machine. It's quiet and easy to use.

It's data capable, which means you can check your readings on the lcd screen (before noon), or use the software to download more detailed results. The Smart Card needs to be "enabled" before you can see the data though. I sent you some info, via Private Message.

I have the same mask, and find it quite light and comfortable. A hint is to adjust the forhead dial so you get a good fit (mine is at 3), and then leave the bottom straps quite loose. After you turn the cpap on, then lift the mask away (about 1/4 inch) from your face, and you will feel it inflate and then seal against your skin. You can tighten the straps a little more, but only to the point where it doesn't leak. I can put 2 fingers in the space under the straps.

Let us know how it goes.

You're off to a great start, pdean44! KatieW's tips were excellent regarding fitting the mask. I have the same mask and machine that you do, and I've had excellent results from my CPAP therapy. Four months "on the hose" and I'm feeling great! I trust that you'll do well too.

I hope that you sleep well tonight and wake up feeling refreshed in the morning! Be sure to let us know if you have any questions. There are lots of people here willing to help!

Logged a total of 9 hours on the machine for my 1st nite. Got up two time briefly. Had some water in the mask. I need one of them hose covers and something to set my machine on. I feel very groggy. Once i get caught up on sleep and rest I hope that feeling goes away. I have to figure out the software so I can see how I did. I have some reading to do i grabbed the software. I have a card reader I have had for my computer i bought a while back from radio shack that fits many camera cards. I am hoping that reader will work on that card.

Just pulled out the card that came with the resmed and i can see that a camera card reader will not work. How disappointing. Will have to look into a resmed reader now.
