Resperonics M Series Problem

Post by 230jhp » Sun Jan 03, 2010 11:53 am

I have the above unit with the heated humidifier. The humidifier stopped working recently. The light flashes indicating "it is not communicating" with CPAP device. I tried to go to the Resperonics site, but it requires a company name for log in. I have a billing dispute going on with the doctor that prescribed the unit 13 months ago so I cannot deal with him.

I have been using it without the heat getting minimal water vaopr through the mask, but it is drying out my nasal pasages.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

It seems to me that I recall a certain serial number of the M Series humdifiers had a problem and were recalled.

I don't remember where it was posted or what the serial numbers were, but a search may help you.

Maybe someone else recalls that.

You say you are in an ongoing dispute with the doctor so can't go to him. Do you have a separate DME? Could they help?

In this case, I think I might contact the doctor, if a DME is not in the picture, in spite of the dispute since it sounds like your humdifier is defective and may still be under warranty.

Sorry to hear about the problem you're having, 230jhp.

If finances allow it, you might want to consider buying a Fisher & Paykel HC 150 heated humidifier (or even the older HC 100 model.)

That's a stand-alone humidifier that comes with a short connector hose to attach to the CPAP machine. Can be used with any brand of CPAP.

I've used an F&P HC 150 humidifier for years, with different machines, instead of using the machine's integrated humidifier. Works great. Holds more water than integrated humidifiers.

cpap.com carries the F&P HC 150 humidifier. You might also check out cpapauction.com. Might get a slightly used one or even a new one even cheaper through the auction.

fwiw -There are several different models of the M Series. So saying M series really gives no clues. Written across the top of the machine will be all the words you need to identify your machine.

RG offered some very good suggestions.

The DME should be separate from the doc or that explains why you will have troubles. It will be all about his money NOT your healthcare.

A quick searched turned this up -

I had my M series Humidifier do the same thing just a couple of months
light flashing

I called the place where I purchased my M series they said bring it and get a new one it's broke. I kept the water container.
If the warranty is still in effect they may honor that billing problem or no.
Even if it is your Dr you purchased from.

Their have been a couple recalls on those humidifiers and the recall was expanded this past summer for another problem. What you are describing is what they recall was for. I had one of those units go out about a year ago and it was replaced.

Call the doctor you got it from, if they won't take care of it, try getting a message to the manufacturer.
