S8 Autoset II question

Post by JeffH » Wed Feb 24, 2010 4:00 pm

Got the machine. The set up menu is complicated compaired to the Remstar. My dumb question is what is the Settlings item on the menu?

I'm trying to set it up auto start, autopap, min 13.4 max 15.4.

Thanks

"Settling" is sort of like ramp. It is how long the machine stays at the minimum pressure, to give you a chance to get to sleep before it starts moving the pressure around.

Thanks. Never was a fan of ramp so this needs to be on "off".

It this case, it only holds the pressure at wherever you start out, in your case 13.4. If you set "settle" to run until after you fall asleep, then the machine won't count any sleep-onset changes in your breathing against you in keeping a record of your apneas and hypopneas. Your machine will start out at 13.4, so it is just a matter of how long you would like it to stay there waiting for you to go to sleep.

Just had to do that today. They just had me go to setup, then to auto on, and turn the dial to off.
Then mine just goes back to the main screene.

Hope this helps.
