USB data card reader
USB data card reader
Anybody have any luck getting their insurance to cover their USB data card reader? My DME says they will not. Just wondering if it's worth fighting.
Thanks,
Al

Re: USB data card reader
Hi
the USB card reader can be easily bought for around $10...
If you have a laptop and PC from 2005 and younger, the USB reader are all built-in, as part of the PC..
I do not think this USB card reader is an issue

Re: USB data card reader
akeegan: just do a google and among thousands you will get this:
http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Memory-Card- ... B000FNDWLQ
The price is only $2.30
I am without any health insurance and managed to survive with help from Dr Google.
OTOH, I think it is not worth to worry about $2.30 and figth it out with yr insurance

Re: USB data card reader
What kind of data card does the Res Med Auto Set II use? Thanks

Re: USB data card reader
For the ResMed S8 autoset II, ask your DME for the card. Note you will also need proprietary software and card-reader (or usb adapter), both not cheap to download the data from the data card. Both are available at cpap.com, about $270 for both. At this time I'm still waiting for my card reader, back-ordered for about 1 month now.Satsleep wrote:What kind of data card does the Res Med Auto Set II use? Thanks

Re: USB data card reader
I would correct these initial responses - based on akeegan (Al's) profile, he has a Resmed S8 Autoset II (as do I). The card reader is a "smart card" (not a standard SD card as the PR System One is).
I found a knockoff reader for my S8 (there is a link here with sources: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38260&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... aptalk.com), but it hasn't worked reliably - I tried it on a couple different PC's with the same results...it originally worked ok, but now I can't get the ResScan software to see it. I think I paid about $35 delivered.
I finally just broke down and ordered the Resmed branded one to confirm the reader was bad. About $70 delivered.
The new Resmed S9 reportedly uses a standard card (believe SD also).
I did not try to submit to my insurance to purchase it, so can't help there.

Larry (aka satsleep) doesn't list his equipment profilejdm5 wrote:I would correct these initial responses - based on akeegan (Al's) profile, he has a Resmed S8 Autoset II (as do I). The card reader is a "smart card" (not a standard SD card as the PR System One is).
Re: USB data card reader
Sorry about that. I am asking about the S8 Autoset II. I was thinking the data card was a proprietary type and the reader on Amazon that was mentioned in one of the posts would not work. Thus the question of what type card is the data card and whether it requires the resmed proprietary reader?dtsm wrote:Larry (aka satsleep) doesn't list his equipment profilejdm5 wrote:I would correct these initial responses - based on akeegan (Al's) profile, he has a Resmed S8 Autoset II (as do I). Re: USB data card reader
Oops, my bad. Apologies for rushing to answer without checking details... Just because I now used an SD card, that does not mean other are using the same.
Al, pls accept my apologies and thanks to JDM for pointing out my mistakes
