Altitude and Humidifier Settings

Post by Sleepy_Brown » Mon Feb 22, 2010 9:40 am

Hello All

I have an mseries cpap machine and I sometimes adjust the basic setting for the cflex and notification beeps. I am not sure if i accidentially changed my altitude settings
Its at 1 now, can someone confirm that this is the setting for georgia? and any recommendations about the humdified settings? I have a face mask now and I am getting more water in my mask than ever before, and I am using a snugglehose too.

Thanks

The altitude setting is user-accessible. You didn't say where you were in Georgia and you should be able to find out what your altitude is.......but I can't imagine too many places in Georgia being over 2500' elevation.

The humidifier setting is also user-selectable (by turning the dial on top) and is a comfort feature. If you're getting too much water ("rainout"), you probably have it set too high. "To each his own" on that one.

Altitude Adjustment Screen
You can adjust the altitude setting by pressing the Plus (+) or
Minus (-) buttons to increase or decrease the setting to 1, 2,
or 3. Use these guidelines to find the setting best for you:
• 1 = less than 2500 ft. (<762 m)
• 2 = 2500 to 5000 ft. (762 m to 1524 m)
• 3 = 5000 to 7500 ft. (1525 m to 2286 m)
Note: Elevations over 7500 ft. (2286 m) may affect the
accuracy of the pressure. Your home care provider
can verify the pressure setting with a water column
manometer.
Warning: If you set the manual altitude setting incorrectly,
the pressure may be too high or too low, depending
on your location.

I currently live close to sea level and when I traveled to over 6,000 feet, I left my setting where it's at (on 1) and still had rain out. Something I recently learned is that when the pressure is very low, rain out can occur, regardless of all the anti-rain out measures I've taken. Well, that's good news (low pressure needed to prevent events/less events) and bad news (Much of the time I'm going to have rain out). I'm guessing the increased air keeps the moisture from accumulating - drying it out.
