To Sell or Not to Sell....
To Sell or Not to Sell....
I've been reorganizing and reducing the "stuff" I have in my house, and I'm contemplating selling my backup machine and Aussie heated hose, neither of which I use. I haven't had the Resmed Autoset II for even a year. I never opened the plastic on the H4i humidifier that came with it, nor did I open the bag with the power cable and hose. I only used it for a couple weeks, so it probably doesn't have many hours either. I used the heated hose part of two nights and decided I couldn't stand the warm air, even with a weaker power adapter. I also bought the battery adapter for the Autoset II, and I need a different adapter for my VPAP.
I hate to see these things going to waste in the closet. But periodically I get rid of something and regret it six months or a year later.
Comments? Anyone interested in these items? Any advice on what price I should set if I do decide to sell or auction these items?
Thanks and regards!

Re: To Sell or Not to Sell....
hard questions!!! I'm a hoarder and trying to reform. When the budget gets tight, my old ways creep back in. I do enjoy scrounging on the web when i think I need something. So, ...look at all the auctions, Craiglist and the like to establish what a fair price is. Sell, if you want to, knowing what it would cost to go out and get another used one if you need it. For me, right now, I'd hold on to it. When my machine died and I don't have a relationship with a DME right now, it was a LONG week without while I got to the Doc for a prescription and got my new machine. Good Luck!!

If that's your only backup machine, I would advise not selling it.
That would be like driving a vehicle without a spare tire. You may never have a flat, but at least you know it's there in case you do.

I agree with Wulfman. If this is your only back up, you just might want to keep it. Better safe than sorry. But.... I do understand about wanting to sell items you no longer use, but if you keep it, at least you can rest easy knowing you've got the back up machine.Wulfman wrote:If that's your only backup machine, I would advise not selling it.

Re: To Sell or Not to Sell....
Yep, I would love to get my hands on an Autoset II, but even if I did I would have a hard time getting rid of either M series Apap or the Resmed Vantage as I would keep both. Cause I have learned that once something leaves my hands the price invariable shoots up and is more expensive than when I sold it.
Now your hose would be another matter. If you don't like and get rid of it no harm is done as you are getting by on a regular hose.

I agree whole-heartedly w/the strategy of keeping that AutoSet II as a backup/travel device. Heck, why subject your new xPAP to the hazards of travel and loss or theft?? (Yeah, I'm a hoarder too - if I get rid of something today I will need it tomorrow).

Is the Autoset II a good backup for the VPAP? Is and EPR=3 OK for a few nights? If you can use it, keep it. Otherwise, consider getting a backup VPAP and selling the Autoset after you've got it.Slinky wrote:I agree whole-heartedly w/the strategy of keeping that AutoSet II as a backup/travel device. Re: To Sell or Not to Sell....
Ozij is right, of course. If you can pick up a good, lightly used VPAP at a reasonable price THEN sell the AutoSet II, that would be ideal. But, I'd keep that AutoSet II as a backup UNTIL I did get another VPAP. I kept my S8 AutoSet "just in case" until I can find a lightly used VPAP Auto.

Re: To Sell or Not to Sell....
Of course I agree with the others about having a backup but I bet if and when you do decide to sell, there are many Respironics M Series users wanting an Autoset for comparison or those just needing a backup.

Re: To Sell or Not to Sell....
Thanks everyone. I can use the Autoset II, but it's not very pleasant. I bought it when I was struggling with CPAP and had to self-titrate. The machine helped greatly for that, but we then discovered I really need the added exhalation relief of the VPAP auto. I think I'll go ahead and auction the heated hose, as I don't and most likely won't use it. I guess one reason I've been considering selling the Autoset is that I really need the VPAP and wouldn't want to use the Autoset unless I absolutely had to.
So thanks for your input. Now to find a backup VPAP.
