My doctor had suggested it. I assumed she thought there was a chance I was mouth breathing, but maybe she switched me because I wasn't improving, which could mean I was mouth breathing. I'm not sure. I don't have the same machine as you, so for leaks my machine never says 0. I assume you have a machine that subtracts the intentional leak from your mask, and that's what you get 0 leaks? I don't know how your machine works and I also don't know if one can be sure there is no mouth breathing if there are no leaks (it makes sense, I just don't know).secret agent girl wrote:@: SleepingUgly:[/b] Why did you switch to a ffm—were you mouth-breathing? I really like the swift lt; it’s comfortable for me, there are zero leaks most days, and no evidence of mouth breathing.

Secret Agent:
I received a call from the CIA and FBI: They asked, how's your thyroid functioning? Along with the questions about depression, hypoT can also cause fatigue, brain fog, and general yucky feeling similar to OSA, if you have not had you thyroid functioning tested, perhaps you would want to consider!!!!!

I can understand why you wouldn't want to switch masks just to see, but you could tape your mouth for a week and see if it made a difference.secret agent girl wrote:I'm not 100% sure that mouth breathing would show up in the Leaks report, but I can't imagine how it could not. So, since those numbers are good for me, and I don't have a dry mouth in the morning, I'm going with that I don't open my mouth much. While asleep, anyways.
You had sleepiness and lots of arousals before CPAP, but you are more sleepy and waking more at night with CPAP, right? What did you mean about the hours of sleep (i.e., time you go to bed and wake up, total hours actually asleep, etc.)?My thyroid has always checked out fine. It would strain my belief that it would 'go out' on me just as I start cpap. I do have my yearly checkup soon and will bring it up with my PCP. Will also have lots of Qs with my 1st follow-up with sleep doc later this month.
Did you see any difference when you switched from Auto-Pap to CPAP?

Re: Discouraged
I was at the American Psychological Association (APA) conference a few months back where they had a lot of people there promoting the use Light Therapy (which involves the use of a bright light that includes the full sunlight spectrum). Timing of when to use the lightswas an important factor. Using it first thing in the morning to fully wake up helped improve sleep at night and was shown to also improve overall mental health.
