Advice on M-Series Auto CPAP c/w A-Flex

Post by ranman » Wed Feb 10, 2010 10:37 pm

I have owned the Remstar Auto Tank CPAP for about 4 years and have had much success in managing my treatment. I have gained much experience from reading information on the forum on a regular basis. I track my progress by downloading my data once a week and charting all the information on an excel spreadsheet as well as saving the pdf report each week.

I have been feeling pretty good for the most part and worked hard to get my leaks under control and my AHI between .5 and 1.5. I found through experience and by reviewing my database that I do better with one fixed pressure rather then setting a range with the APAP function. It is helpful however to have the capability of using the APAP function if required.

Because of how the whole landscape of available product and software options has changed in the last two years and because of the total of almost 9000 hours on my old trusty tank I feel it would be prudent to purchase a new machine with data capability now.

I feel that the best CPAP option for me based on what I want to accomplish with managing my therapy is the M-Series Auto CPAP c/w A-Flex. From all that I know about this machine there are two issues regarding the product that I would like feed back on.

1. Is there still an issue with the humidifier tank leaking? Is the tank an adequate size to last through the night? I know that it is smaller then the tank I have with my Remstar Auto. Is the tank easy to fill? If there are issues with this humidifier would the F&P HC150 be a viable option? I understand that this would be a stand alone piece and that would not be an issue for me. Would the quality of the F&P be any better then the Respironics M series humidifier?

2. Is there still a problem with the M series dropping data? If so on average how often is this an issue. I have been following a routine where I download my nightly data once a week on Thursdays. I heard previously that for some reason Saturdays seemed to be the day that was dropped frequently by the M machine. I would like to remain with my routine of downloading the data once per week.

When I do this I have not been erasing my card but have tweaked my pressures based on the vast data that I have been accumulating and reviewing over the last three years. Over the course of a month or a year how many dropped days would there be?

I know there are lots of very knowledgable members in the forum. Any help or opinions I could get regarding these questions would be much appreciated.

I have the old tank APAP (w/o HH unit) and have it stored as a backup.

I use the M-series AFLEX machine sans the HH unit. Instead I have it hooked up to HC-150 and have never had problems with it. Re: data drops, I recall some having that issue though I never had the problem and have never lost any data.

It is way better to go with the HC-150 as there is never an issue running out of water or leaks. So if compactness is not essential, get the machine without the integrated HH unit and use HC-150.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I've been using the M series Auto w/Aflex since last June. I've never run out of water but then it's set at only 2. And I've never missed data except for the nights where I've forgotten to put the stinking card back in the machine.
Masks I've tried but didn't like :
FlexiFit HC405 - couldn't stop the leaks
