Res Med System Err 1018 -- HELP!

Post by Lady Marian » Sun Feb 07, 2010 12:39 pm

I've been a happy S8 Autoset II user for about 6 weeks now. This morning, I unthinkingly reached over and pressed the power button before taking my mask off, forgetting that I had recently turned on the Smart Start feature. I now have a display which reads: SYSTEM ERR 1018, Call Service. I have searched and searched, and it is looking worse and worse. This is not something that I can reset with a magical button-push combination, is it? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.

(A I think more about it, there was one other anomoly last night -- as I got back into bed after a bathroom excursion in the middle of the night, my hose got tangled, and pulled the machine halfway off my bedside table. It tipped to about 30 or 40 degrees lengthwise -- part of both the machine and the humidifier were off the table and leaning against the bed. It was the side away from the hose and the airway connection from humidifier to machine. The machine ran for 3 or 4 hours after this incident, before I woke up and pushed that blasted power button.)

Any ideas other than waiting until office hours tomorrow and contacting my DME?

you should clamp the airhose to bedhead to stop it tugging on CPAP and moving it

You probably have water in the unit. You can try drying it out with a hair dryer. Just depends on how much water got into the unit.

Thanks for the advice. No luck drying it out with a hairdryer, but still a happy ending. Took it into my DME today, where I was immediately given a brand new unit (the original probably only had about 300 hours on it). Since I'm still renting, it seemed to be no big deal. Scanned the barcode of the original machine; scanned the barcode of the new replacement; had me sign one form, then sent me on my way.

Further proof that I have the best DME in the world.

I got the exact same error message on my machine today....and I only have about 30 hours on mine! I have only had it for 5 days! My DME is also replacing mine. How strange that we both got that error message at the same time.....
