Caveat emptor.

Critical information for people considering ResMed pillows mask can be found on this thread

Johnnycomelately's interest in (t)his new baby is suspiciously familiar -- reminds me of the masquerading guests we had on the previous FX thread.

I would only try a ResMed mask with nasal pillows if I had absolutely no alternative.

"A few days" is not the issue. Still working after a few weeks is.

see this:

I have noted without a doubt the newer pillows are flimsier and after about 4-6 weeks of use will collapse causing Oxygen deprevation.

This recently caused me to have a grand-mal seizure and I would like to be the first to publicly warn everyone of the product liability issues with these nasal pillows.

I FEEL THE PROBLEM IS SERIOUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A PRODUCT RECALL.
It was posted a few weeks after this:

I can see a slight difference in the transparency but I really cant tell the difference in feel.

I think they both seal equally well.

Well I have been forewarned! However in my never ending search for the perfect mask, I decided to order one just the same. The mask is made out of silicone, even the side straps and looks like it may be very comfortable. Time will tell if the quality of the nasal pillows is similar to that of the swift lt pillows. Update to follow.

As far as i can tell the FX does not have the pivot adjustment that the LT has. This is my favorite feature of the LT as my nose is angled slightly upwards more than normal and I need to be able to grab the pillow and twist them forward or back to get the correct pillow angle.

The FX looks as though the angle is fixed as there is no adjustment so its a no go for me.

Good point. I hadn't noticed that.

I wonder if step four in the fitting section of the user guide may change the angle a little? I don't see how it could, but maybe it does . . .

I am still using the original pillows with my LT, and I got it 14 months ago. I use it every night and get O.O leak, so I haven't been motivated to get new pillows.

If the FX was, oh, say, about $50, I would order one today and try it out. Why should I pay more than that for a mask that is "barely there"? To cover ResMed's marketing costs? Oh yeah. I forgot.

From that guide it looks like step 5 is what they recommend for adjusting the angle and that involves just moving the pillow around in your nose. What if someones ideal angle results in just a small amount of pillow remaining in the nasal passage on one side, I suspect it might feel awkward and could blow out at higher pressures.

It will be interesting to see what people think of this mask.

I wonder if CPAP.com would consider doing a product challenge between the LT and the Fx?

In harmony with what ozij said, though, I think the jury will be out until people have bought replacement pillows and been satisfied with them.

None of the pics I have seen show it being routed up over the top of the head either. Wonder if this is somehow related to the fixed angle?

I'm thinking I need to stick with Swift LT and if my older version pillows ever wear out just go back to Opus 360 ... or do the Breeze pillow mod.

Oh, man, I hadn't noticed THAT either! I ain't paying you guys enough.

Yeah, that would be a deal-breaker for me, since I really like routing my LT over my head. I can spin in either direction during the night without even worrying where the hose is. I don't think I could go back to routing my hose any other way now.

RATS!

Hey! I didn't get my check this month!!

Will it also include a cost of living increase? My tab on those AIG bonuses just went up again.

Man, I came || that close to ordering one this morning.
Then I saw the comment about lack of front to back tilt adjustment and stopped what I was doing.
I think too, that it would be difficult to adjust for the angle of the nose.
Also, looks like a hanging hose would not be a good angle match.
My LT seems to be doing pretty well for me but I keep hoping for the Perfect mask.

Oh Well,
TerryB

The new Swift FX does not need a pivot click system for the nose piece like the LT; because the headgear is make of silicone it allows for the angle of the pillows to change for different nose angles. Also, the tubing of the mask is extremely flexible so it does not need the clip above the mask for the tube.
