Help with understanding readings

Post by river_terror » Fri Jan 29, 2010 4:09 pm

I just got my card reader for the Resmes Autoset2 and need some help with the readings. I've been looking every day at the readings on the machine and thougth I doing pretty good keeping my AHI score under 2. But now I looked on the reports with the card reader and am worried. I only had 3 nights of detailed data. The summary showed an AHI of less than 2 each night. The Ai was .1, 0 and .1. But what I'm worried about is on the two days of .1, looking at the graph it showed a little red mushroom with a 10 above the box. I seem to remember waking up at that point in the night but I'm not sure if I woke up because of that event or did waking up cause the event to register? It also showed 0% time in apnea on those days. I was prescribed 13# Cpap but I had switched to the APAP mode 7-13# when I couldn't sleep with the 13# pressure. Now I'm in the 10# 95 percentile and tolerating it better. Should I be worried about the red mushroom or is the fact that AHI is less than 2 ok? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I was going to try to copy the charts to this post but ccan't figure out how to do it.

That's an excellent value.

The 10 is the duration of the apnea. Not long.

If you didn't take off the mask, the unit would not know if you were awake or not. And the apneas might be due to sleep onset central apneas. Nothing to worry about.

And if you woke due to the apnea ... for 10 seconds, probably not. But you might have. However, I think it's more likely it occurred due to waking and falling back asleep.

95 percent of the times your pressure was 10 or lower. Good decision to use APAP.

It looks alarming, doesn't it. But only a few apneas lasting only a few seconds sounds as if the unit is very effective for you.

There's a couple posts about doing that. Essentially you can upload the pictures to Photbucket.com (or similar site) and then point to the JPG file with the Img bbcode.

John, Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out. I thought the 10 over the mushroom meant I had 10 events and didn't know it was the duration. I was really worried that while I was seeing AHI readings under 2 I missing something. You cleared it up and made my day. I really appreciate your help and this forum.
