Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
Just curious about when we all hit the hay.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.
Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy.

Sometime after midnight now. When I'm working, I hit the sack between 10 and 11.

Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
Hi Robin,
We just got back from Oregon again, our son's recovery from his accident was complicated. We were helping with the kids while our DIL was in the Hospital with Doug. I tried to stick with my "at home" bedtime which was between 9:30 and 10:00., but it didn't work, I was up later with our grandkids. Then up earlier than I usually was..
I'm going back on Muffy's sleep system tonight. I need a good night's sleep. I don't ever want to go back to my Night Owl hours of going to bed between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m.
How 'bout you - did your surgery, and the pain thereof, complicate your sleep schedule?

Hi, Jan, and welcome back! You've been missed, and I hope your return home means that your son is doing much better. I bet you'll sleep deeply tonight, snug in your own bed again. There's no place like home.SaltLakeJan wrote:Hi Robin,

Well, for the first few nights after the surgery, I was only able to sleep for about five or six hours, which was a change from my norm of seven or eight. (One of those nights, my AHI was 39.8. ) I was just very uncomfortable, in pain, stuck in one position, wearing a sling. I tried to sleep in my recliner, but that wasn't any better. I was able to maintain my usual bedtime throughout my recovery, though. How 'bout you - did your surgery, and the pain thereof, complicate your sleep schedule?

Once the sling came off (early December) and I started to see my Physical Terrorist , things started to improve all around. (I'm almost done with my P.T. appointments, and I'll see the surgeon for my post-op followup at the end of this week. My range of motion has improved a great deal, and I'm starting to work on getting my strength back. So far, so good.)
So although the surgery definitely did interrupt my sleep, it didn't affect my bedtime.

Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
My bedtime varies widely -- anywhere between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. It goes in cycles. Fortunately, I have the luxury of being able to sleep in as late as I need to, so I usually do get 7-8 hours of sleep these days.
Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
Usually by 11 on week nights. Can be as late as 1 AM on weekends, but that is a bad habit that I am trying to break
I don't start my work shift until 9 AM.

Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
Regrettably, my schedule is sometimes variable.
My personal preference is to be in bed between 9 & 11.
The problem is on the other end because my husband has to be up for 4:30 since he has to be to work for 6a. He's usually in bed by 8:30 -- but I literally can't fall asleep that early.
Between him and the fur kids... I get around 6 hours of sleep, then I'm semi-awake for two hours, then go back to sleep for two hours, if I'm not working. If I am working, I usually can't go back to sleep after being awakened because I'm afraid I'll sleep through the alarm.
Because of shortened hours at the book store, I've been off for a couple of weeks. Much to my astonishment, I've slept through husband and fur children romping in the morning, and have actually gotten 8 hours of mostly uninterrupted sleep.
Amazing.

Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
I keep my world different than most people, Early to bed at 3 A.M., up at Noon. If the world requires me to be somewhere at a set time, I miss some sleep. Years of working 3rd shift have broken my clock for the most part. I do what I have to, when I have to, if I have to, I've earned the right. Jim
And yes, my treatment would be better to conform to normal hours, but I do pretty good with my system.

Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
My sleep hours haven't changed all that much since I retired last summer.
For years, I had my alarm clock set for 4:45 AM. Most mornings I was awake before it went off.
In order to get at least 7 hrs. of sleep, I went to bed between 9:00 and 9:30.
Since I retired, I'm STILL waking up at about the same time as I did when I was working......
But, now, I'm going to bed between 10:00 and 10:30.
However, since there's MUCH less stress these days, I'm doing just fine on slightly less sleep.

If I have to get up early before 0700 hrs. I go to bed before Midnight. If I don't have to go anywhere I go to bed sometimes after 0100hrs. If my back is bothering me and I take a couple of happy pills then it's when I start feeling sleepy.

I'm curious. What is Muffy's sleep system?SaltLakeJan wrote:I'm going back on Muffy's sleep system tonight.
My bedtime ritual---8 pm to 9 pm =quiet reading time. Bedtime 9 pm. I get up between 5 and 5:30 am every morning so that I can do my exercising before work. I try to sleep in on weekends but it does not always work.
Re: Poll: What's Your Bedtime?
I'm lucky in a way in that I only work 3 days a week, 7 pm to 7 am. I try and be in bed by 10 am on the days I work up up at 4 pm. On my days off I still seem to sleep more during the day than at night but it is always different. I'm still always tired though during the day time. Seems like I'm tired all the time now that I think about it.
