"Men of a certain age"

Post by LSAT » Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:18 pm

TNT's "Men of A Certain Age" showed Owen and his CPAP. Don't see too many of these on TV.

I haven't watched the show, but in the ad for it before the show started, I thought I caught a quick glimpse of a cpap on the nightstand! Glad they're doing this.

I just wish the CPAP user was the actor with all the young girlfriends, not the chubby guy with the wife who tells him, "you know you're supposed to wear your mask." It would give a more accurate picture of the life most of us lead.

Yes, but Owen needs to use a chinstrap or tape his mouth. He was snoring using a nasal mask in the last episode in TNT.

I love the show.

The only problem with the show is that it's True.....I guess Everybody Still Loves Raymond.

My husband and I watched that episode last night. "Mark, Mark! he has a CPAP machine" . Actually, they had a glimpse of it in a previous episode that I noticed.

At least the show a bit of the real world in this program!

Owen is the poster boy for what happens to your body when you don't use your CPAP regularly. I hope that they show him figuring that out and using it more. I'm rooting for him.

Agreed. It's bad enough we gotta wear a mask to sleep, now we have to contend with TV stereotypes? Come on!

"Are you the fat guy?"
"Yeah, I'm the fat guy."

"Next month I go back to making little girls cry."

Enjoyable show. I keep telling my BF that the value of it is to see that everybody else hates their job, too. He's not alone.

CPAP is just not even an issue in this show. I like the line about "you know you should wear your mask" because I think it DOES reflect the VAST MAJORITY of people prescribed a cpap machine.

Clearly not US on this forum, but I think we are a TINY MINORITY, my friends.

Would be nice if we had a positive role model on TV for wearing our masks and being comfortable with therapy. But hey, I think we have bigger fish to fry in this society. And I don't think ANY CHARACTER OR SITUATION on this show is meant to be a positive role model. In fact, just the opposite. "There but for the grace of god go I." Seriously.

BTW, Anyone else but me HATE that man's wife??? What a BITCH!!!!! I wanted to slap her when she laid on his chest in the hospital telling him he just had to go back to that job so she could stay home and continue the lifestyle she'd become accustomed to.

Cheers,
Barbara

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Hi Barbara...
How about a Seinfeld episode with Kramer using a CPAP ?????
