Exercises to Improve Apnea?

Post by always_tired » Thu Jan 07, 2010 8:57 pm

John Hopkins sent me an "invitation" to subscribe to their health newsletter. If I subscribed, I could pick from a number of "white papers" written by their staff. One of these was on sleep, and the teaser was exercises that improve moderate sleep apnea.

Does anyone know what they are taking about? I tried searching on this site and couldn't find anything recently.

I don't know if this is it, but Dr. Park alluded to tongue exercises on his telecast the other night. He referenced http://www.ijustwanttosleep.com, but did note that there is no muscle tone during REM, so it wouldn't help at those times. I googled "tongue exercises apnea" and there are more citations. He talks about it here:

A while back, I think I read about some yoga breathing techniques that are supposed to help also.

The "didge" has also been employed when the PVC-based Blue Man Group (BMG):

decides to have an "unplugged" (or "wooden") night:

I've heard the didgeridoo recommendation before as well.

Stayed up too late last night, playing a new video game I got for Christmas:

But I'll tell ya, some of the great didge riffs of all time in there...
