Hey you guys If there is a prize for anniversary years I want to be included ... We celebrated 61 years in August...am I the oldest cpap'er Yuck Yuck...I am past 83 And still trying to last

How great is this!?!? You get the prize...all the air you can breathe in from your cpap! Congrats really! What do you owe the longevity of your marriage to?

btw...I'm 53, met dh when I was 17 and have been married for 34 years...just a baby compared to you and your sweetheart.

There must be a link between CPAPers and long marriages. Do you think maybe because when we find someone who stays with us after seeing us in our masks, we don't want to give them up?

Barnaby, that is absolutely incredible. Besides being the Patriarch of our Forum, and you've certainly earned the title, you could probably write the book on how to stay happily married. I know, you never said you were HAPPILY married (only kidding around). That is a beautiful thing to find someone with whom you can live harmoniously for 61 years. And 83 years old? God bless you. I only hope to be blessed enough to live a long happy life. From the sounds of your posts, you're still middle-aged. You have a lot to teach us all, I'm sure. It's a pleasure talking with you.

Congratulations!. I am sure some of us will be happy to live at least as long as your marraige. To live into the 80s has to be a big bonus.

You have lived through a period of change that has been dramatic & continuous. Your perceptions and observations must be a national treasure.

Thank you all for the placing of my name at the head of the list for patriarch of the forum I can't just spout off all the thoughts that I have on creating an environment for long lasting marriages...it would put a lot of lawyers out of business and reduce the need for judges. Then too look at all the happy children it would create. (we dont want to make kids happy do we ??)

Barnaby,

My parents celebrate their 52nd tomorrow and neither of them is ever left home, either. They do absolutely everything together and always have. My friends, when I was growing up, used to refer to them as "Romeo and Juliet." I had the two most made-for-each-other parents of any of my friends. Yes, they would lock horns occasionally, but never for long and always were speaking to each other during the whole thing. There was never one day I can remember where they didn't speak. Set a great example for my sister and I to know that marriages can last and so can love.

My sister and her husband and my husband and myself are both celebrating our 25th anniversaries this month, too, my sister's on the 4th, too, tomorrow, and mine on the 25th. Guess it helps to have a good example.

Lori that might be true..but not 100%.....my father walked out when I was past 12...what we three children were exposed to set an example of what I would not allow to happen with my children. I have little sympathy with the fathers in our society that screw-up the lives of adolencent kids. I would make a bad courtroom judge..I would stick it to the nasty father every time.

I'd make a worse courtroom judge; I'd stick it to the nasty spouse!

I've seen a few mothers that weren't fit to care for a dog, much less a child! However most of what I've seen is bad fathers.

My husband and I just got back from a little trip to celebrate our 25th. 61 years, huh? Looks like we are just getting started. I love hearing about people who have loved each other for so long!
