Windows Live Mail in windows 7 includes the familiar features of Windows Mail, the mail program in Windows Vista, plus new features such as the ability to automatically configure itself to work with some of the most popular e‑mail services, including Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo!, AOL, and Gmail. To download Windows Live Mail, go to the Windows Live Mail website.

I recently migrated from Outlook Express to Mozilla Thunderbird to do my e-mail on my new Vista 64-bit PC (was on XP SP3 on prior PC). Using Thunderbird / Tools / Import, I successfully imported all my mail messages and address books from Outlook Express (I did have to do some touchup for the address book entries after import). I am very satisfied with Thunderbird as my e-mail program (I had first tried Windows Live and didn't need all its features - I wanted something just to do my e-mail). One of the capabilities that I like is that Thunderbird consolidates all my e-mail accounts (I have numerous accounts/IDs) so I can now access them much quicker.
I just received my free Windows 7 Upgrade kit (provided as part of my new PC purchase) and plan to move to Windows 7 64-bit after the Holidays. Using Gregor's instructions, I quickly had EncorePro (1.8.49) and my Mako SmartCard Reader working on my Vista Home Premium 64-bit system. Gregor (posted and confirmed via a PM) believes that his Vista 64-bit instructions will work for Windows 7 64-bit. I will give them a try after the Holidays.
