Newbie to Encore Pro card reader software

Post by lmorchard » Mon Dec 28, 2009 10:01 pm

Thanks to some help from people around here and a night of forum searches, it looks like I've got Encore Pro software working now under Windows 7 with my Respironics M Series Auto CPAP and a Mako DT3500 card reader. I managed to download (and not delete) 3 months' worth of data, and generated a full 11 page report from it. The software seems pretty impressive, in that it installs a full SQL database on my machine that I'm itching to peek into since I'm a bit of a hacker.

My compliance (98.3%) should make my doctor proud. I want to say things look good, but a sanity check is welcome:

* Avg. Large Leak = 1.1 mins
* Avg. Time in Apnea = 55.3 secs
* AHI = 2.1

I'm going to do more forum searches to piece things together, but what sorts of things should I be looking for and what actions might I take? I can control my mask fitting, humidifier pressure, and even my machine pressure - though I hesitate to muck with that last one much.

I've just gotten a new mask, and it seems to fit well, so leaks don't seem a problem. I feel pretty well rested, and other than my 4 days without therapy a few weeks ago, I haven't had any of my former symptoms. (eg. sore throat, headache, lack of concentration, etc)

Overall, I think I'm okay, but just curious what others are doing with this data to monitor their own therapies.

I only use the Daily Data, to make decisions, to me the rest is just fluff. The dailies show you what happen and when and give you a clue to why. For anything that happens in the dailies I just make a vertical line thru all graph to see what when and why! (Mental or Ruler, what works for you.) The secret for good treatment is to keep the leaks to a minium, leaks can cause the data to become useless. Jim

You are getting such good results that if you change things, your results could deteriorate.

The only thing I would look at is the Daily Details reports going forward. Regarding the "large leak" average, it is unlikely that you have 1.1 minutes on a typical night. It is more likely that you have zero large leak on the typical night and then a few nights when the large leak is lengthy. You can pick this up in the Daily Details report.

With such good averages, I would only look for the exceptional night when something goes wrong. I think you might find on those nights something went wrong with your sleeping position that caused the mask to leak.

You might also think about your sleeping positions and apneas/hypopneas. Many patients have more apneas on their back as compared to sides or tummy.

But to repeat, you are getting excellent results.

lmorchard , you mentioned Windows 7. Is it 64 bit? Did you have to do anything special to get it to install? The SQL portion doesnt seem to play nice with 64 bit Operating Systems.

I am guessing, but he probably used the older 1.8 version. Blake, you need the new version. I know some people got both versions to install under win7 64 bit but I couldn't, I had to install a virtual machine.
