I pack it in the cases and put it in the drawer. No way in hell I am going to leave that laying out.

That depends on what I am doing and where I am going. I do pack it all away and I usually take it with me but if the car is going to be unattended for a long time, I will hide it in our suitcase.

I just leave it as is in the morning and thru out the day, even when I leave the hotel early and get back late. I put a wash cloth or hanky over the top of it just to keep dust out of the humidifier water tank.

As with Slinky, I tend to just leave it. Sometimes I would disconnect the hose and cover the hose connector on the unit. However, it all depended on the quality of the hotel. In cheaper hotels I would tend to put it into a drawer. Out of sight, out of mind.

But that was my Respironics BiPAP Auto M Series unit. Not even the humidifier. I usually left that at home whan I travel.

But with my ResMed VPAP Adapt SV unit, I will probably put it at least in a drawer every day. And again, depending on the hotel and location, I might pack it into the bag every day.

Pack it away, and put it in drawer, along with my laptop. No point in taking chances.

I was thinking about the same question, and am glad that this was posed.....I am on the road again in January for work.

Given that this machine is my only one, and it has made such a difference in my life, I'll be tempted to pack it up and take it with me while I'm out of the hotel. I'm afraid that someone would nab it, not knowing what it was, only to find out later that it probably doesn't have the street value for instant cash like other electronics............

When we travel I leave it out. In the RV I unplug it and put it at the head of the bed.
When we are in a Hotel I usually leave it out. I have never had a problem with it being disturbed. I don't think there is problem with leaving it set up in a Hotel Room....just put the "Do Not Disturb Sign Out."

Who knows what cleaning chemicals are being sprayed in the room?

I just leave mine out now. For years when I traveled I would pack it away. Now, I just put a washcloth over the mask and put it on top of the machine.

Sometimes I have had to unplug lamps or clocks to plug my BiPAP in. On occasion I have had to stretch a cord across the room, in that case I unplug it and either put it on the table or desk in the room.

I leave the machine out and I put the mask in the nightstand drawer, bottom shelf of the nightstand, behind the nightstand, wherever.

We have a timeshare condo in Florida and I am able to put my machine in the nightstand drawer, so I just toss the mask in the drawer and close it. We have had the same maid for the past ten years and she knows that I have a CPAP and to not spray anything, such as air fresher or furniture polish, in the bedroom when we are there. We tip her well and she takes great care of us.

Well, I leave things out. I tend to put the "Do not disturb" sign out alot, but even when I don't, it doesn't tend to be a problem.

One thing I will tell you - I put my machine on the floor, to get it lower than my head. After sniffing carpet all night, I quickly learned to grab the tray they give you with the coffee service and put it under the machine. It's amazing how that little bit of plastic can make all the difference.

Good luck!
B.

I've yet to take mine on a vacation to a hotel, but was planning on leaving it out along with the 5 laptops, digital cameras, etc that tend to come with me. However, rooster's post gives me a great reason to consider putting it away.

Get the front desk clerk to store it in the hotel safe... until I return.

I've been in two hotels since starting CPAP.

Both times I left things out...and the "do not disturb" sign on the door. No problems. Kind of figured it would be okay (and others had mentioned it on here before my first trip...), since I a time before that I had accidentally left the sign out and they left my room alone.....

First hotel, had a nice night stand with a cubie in the bottom...I put the everything in there and it was nice. I want to get a night stand like that for my bedroom, so I can do that....though I changed my bedroom layout so to kind of do that instead.

Second hotel...had a fixed to the wall shelf next to bed, so I couldn't do it quite like that. But, after listening to the machine for an hour sitting at ear height...I moved it to the floor (after first trying to see if it would fit into the drawer....it didn't and in the process some water spilled out of my machine....so it gurgled bad until I unspilled the water....)

Kind of strange....I used to pack everything up neatly every morning and if I wasn't taking my computer with me, I'd find somewhere in the room to hide it. Now I just leave the dirty clothes out until the last day, no more needing to repack every morning and keep clean and dirty clothes separate in the luggage..... Not sure I remember why I was doing it that way before.

Also found it nicer, because I could come back to my room at any time during my stay and not worry about housekeeping being there or showing up....

The Dreamer.
