A step in the process may be missing. Positional sleep apnea (PSA) should be considered.

You need to find out what position(s) she was sleeping in when the events occured. If she was sleeping on her back, it might be that the AHI would approach zero if she could sleep on her tummy or sides and totally avoid the back.

jnk, I've got one of those computer questions, how do I save your post for later and not lose it so I can come back and ask some questions about the 02 monitor? Hope you understand what I want to do, thanks.

If you are using Internet Explorer, go to the menu bar at the top of the screen and click on Favorites and Add to Favorites.

Firefox calls it Bookmarks.

Like rooster said, if you click on the link to the oximeter in my post to go to the page at that seller, you can save that page as a favorite in the way rooster said, if that's what you'd like to do.

Alternatively, if it is a page of a thread you want to be able to go back to later, one simple way you can usually do that is to right click anywhere inside a post and then click on "Create Shortcut." It should ask you if you want to place a shortcut on your desktop. When you say yes, it saves a link right on your desktop for getting back to that page of the thread. You can then rename that icon on your desktop whatever you want by right clicking on the icon and choosing "Rename." At least, that's how my computer works.

Of course, I put shortcuts on my desktop and add to Favorites all the time, I just thought there was some other "secret" I didn't know about. Thanks guys.

Well, then, DoriC, that just means that I should be asking YOU computer questions, because I didn't know about that way of putting shortcuts to forum pages on the desktop by the method I described until I went looking for a way to do what you asked about! And that means I should thank YOU, since I'm the one who learned something new.

Part of me hates computers, you know. I think it's the part that makes up what's left of the saner part of me.

I must admit that the way I normally find things in this forum is that I remember first who it is I think said it, I click on "Members" up at the top of this page, and then I type in the forum member's name (usually "rested gal" or "-SWS" ). Then I click on the forum member's name, then click on "search user's posts" to run a search on that user's posts alone. If, and I do mean if, I haven't forgotten by that point what it was I was searching for, I usually find it. But that's just the way my mind works (or doesn't, depending).

I just saw this thread and when skimming the advice I did not see what I would respond.

I am one of those with mild apnea. I am also a champion snorer. While I do have some apnea problems, I found that the majority of my sleep problem was that I snored so loudly that I woke myself up constantly greatly disrupting my sleep never getting much past stage 2 sleep.

When on CPAP (and leakage is controlled as your mother-in-law needs to do) I do not snore, do not wake myself up and am very rested.

So my answer is yes, I would treat a low AHI in a loud snorer in a minute, but, the CPAP has to be used properly with leaks controlled and at the right setting to stop snoring.

Very good answer.
