help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
Hey everyone, as you all may know, i made a thread earlier stating my father has OSA and now has a CPAP machine for treatment.
He has the Resmed S8 elite II with humidifier. ( he just got it 12/17/09 ) from DME.
I have no clue how to actually read his settings, even with the manual ( kinda skimmed through it... ill read it again)
As of right now, after explaining to him step by step how to access his recorded AHI... it reads NO DATA....
i asked if he has a card in the machine. He says yes.
i dont understand why it keeps reading NO DATA.?
also, maybe its easier to interpret the DATA collected each night with software.... i heard about the RESCAN, can anyone kind of elaborate on it?
also, theres several versions of the software.... which one is the correct one? ( some say WILL NOT WORK WITH NEW EPR, etc...)...where is the best place to get it? do i need anything else other than cpap machine?
sorry if i am asking you all to spoon feed me, i just dont want to screw this up.

Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
the data must be found before NOON on a resmed machine ---
there are many posts where people tell how to get to the clinical menu - you have to learn the secret handshake or button pushing and low and behold - you are there
usually for a resmed machine it is simultaneously pushing right and down I think but since I don't own one that is off the wall for me - just post a new thread - PLEASE GIVE ME THE CLINICAL MENU SETTINGS FOR THE ELITE II if you can't search and find it

Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
did he try it before noon?
Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
what time of day are you doing this? the LED data for the machine disappears at NOON each day - now NOON can be reset but ....... find out the time on the machine too
Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
yes he sleeps between 10pm-7am
Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
WOW... im having he look through his resmed bag he recieved.... " whats this DATA card thing?"
...that is the problem, right? he wasnt able to save his recording b/c there was no data card, maybe he just has a blank card in there at the moment then, right?

Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
my understanding is that the resmeds have built in data and the card is used to transfer the data to record onto a PC -- this is different than the remstars where the card has to be in them for you to get data
Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
i dont know man... i just made him turn Auto Appear ON...... i dont even know wtf this does...
i just want to see last nights AHI numbers... this is so difficult without having the machine in front of me.

Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
unless he reads the data before noon (machine time), it will show "NO DATA"
Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... i get it....
thats pretty ridiculous though... anywho... what if he wants to see his data after a week from now? like still? before noon?

Re: help with understanding CPAP menu/RESCAN
The day's data is shown only till noon (makes sure the time on the machine is set for his time zone). Naps are calculated as part of the next 24 hour period. And each 24 hour preriod runs from noon to noon - not unreasonable. That daily clearing at the noon cutoff is probably a price we pay for having the precise 24 hour calculation on Resmed's. Respironics doesn't show 24 hour data at all.
The week's data is gathered, and once your dad has 7 days of use on the machine, he will see the week's average - the daily indexes don't get lost - they just don't get presented after noon.
Your Dad can get to view the data by pressing the 2 horizontal buttons - that's a pure review menu, with no chance of messing up the setup. When all I want is to view my data, I prefer the review menu to the clinician's menu.
