I am going to have to get a FFM because I can not breath because of nose problems at this time. Can any one give me some info on them. What to look for and not get in one??? I highly respect the people on this list. And I know nothing about this since I just started on cpap 3 months ago. I only know that I cant breath through the nasal pillows I have right now because of the nose being out of sorts right now. Have only been able to wear it maybe one night out of every 5. Not a good amount. I will be very grateful for any help.
Thanks
Kasae

Re: FFMs
Hi,
Well I am a newbie so... I have been using the Quattro mask by ResMed. Although it is rather large it is surprisingly comfortable for me. The trick is not to over tighten it. You have to play around with the adjustments to get it right. But from what I have been reading on this forum, it really depends on your facial structure. I am sure there are others who can recommend other types of masks. Overall the trick is to find the mask that is the most comfortable for you and gives you a low leak rate.

Re: FFMs
The Quattro FFM by Resmed was one of the first I tried. But I couldn't tolerate it. Didn't last more than an hour that first time.
But now that I'm congested with a bad cold, I was forced to take it out of the box, give it a good dusting off, and read thru all the advice posted on here by all the folks who had deviced systems to adjust it to fit well.
Last night, I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that it was great: it fit comfortably, didn't feel constricting (tho granted, it's a huge mound of plastic to have on the face). And most importantly -- it was really quiet, and had no leaks (even tho I was prepared and had gone into the garage to get the container of plumber's tape, as suggested by a wise poster).
For some reason, I coul;nd't tolerate the least amount of moisture of the humidifier (kinda counter-intuitive -- moisture should feel good for a congested chest). So once I turned that off, I slept soundly thru the nite till the alarm went off in the morning. My first full nite of sleep in a week. Now that's a testimonial.

Re: FFMs
This is such a personal comfort decision--there really is no "best" FFM. Personally, I prefer the Ultra Mirage FFM over the Quattro, just more comfortable to me.

Re: FFMs
Allow me to throw the Innomed Hybrid into the ring. The best of both worlds. The flexibility of a FF, without the impaired vision or red nosebridge.
But, as Rip wisely said, it's all about personal choice (and what fits best!)

Re: FFMs
I use the Resmed Ultra Mirage FFM also. Tried the Quattro but it wouldn't work with my face structure. It would be good ideal to try several on for fit.
Re: FFMs
I would say from comments on here that the Ultra Mirage full face or the quattro. It seems many many people either use one or the other of those two. I have never heard anyone say both of them worked, that only one of them worked for them.
I myself use the quattro and love it, but it is personal preference and fit.
