I am successfully running EncorePro 1.8.49 on Vista 64-bit. I used Gregor's link below to get the Mako card reader driver that I needed to install on my Vista 64-bit OS. I just looked at the site and they also have 32-bit Vista drivers. My EP is working great as is EPA (one small glitch - it won't print the Night Statistics chart) and the MyCPAP card utility. I plan to upgrade to Windows System 7 once I receive my free update.

Hi Cinco777,

I tried to follow the link in your message (which appears broken), but got to the same address and downloaded the Windows XP and Vista 32bit driver. It is the same one Windows is currently using, with only intermittent success.

BTW, I have Uninstalled Encore Pro (twice) and reinstalled it (twice). Windows is using what appears to be the most recent driver.
My Question is. . . do I delete the newer driver and revert back to what I have on my Encore Pro disc?

Specifically, that would be Infineer 2800 Smart Card Reader, Version 1.0.1.4, dated 3/15/2007.

Since you are 64bit Vista, your driver wouldn't work for me. IS there anyone you know running Vista 32bit. I could PM them directly.

Many thanks,
Mr Capers

Mr capers you said the software is running correctly. But when you try to download you get card reader problems. That card reader is integrated into the software so your problem could very well be coming from the software itself.

I did try everything on here and even being talked through it to get EP to run on my Vista ultimate computer. I didn't want to have to spend that kind of money just to be able to run one program let alone an old program that has already been upgraded.

I still believe the problem is from Vista and you won't get it to run correctly.

Best of luck

Gerry

I don't think the problem is Vista, since I was running evrything fine when I had Vista 32 bit, which Mr capers says he has. I have now upgraded to Windows 7 32 bit as well. I had Home Premium with Vista and also have it in Windows 7, running the software and card reader just fine. I hear that the 64 bit causes problems with this but not the 32 bit.

I do have Encore Viewer though and you have Encore Pro. I believe others on the forum are running Encore Pro on Windows Vista 32 bit just fine as well, but none have responded so far in this thread. I really don't think it is any different as far as installation goes.

I'm sorry I don't know enough about computers to give any help. I did nothing really special at all. I did not load the drivers for the card reader when I installed the software ( almost 2 years ago). The Encore Viewer software loaded the appropriate drivers for the card reader when it installed. I did hear of an upgrade to the card reader driver this past Spring and just went to the link that was given (you may find that in a search of "Card reader Drive update" or the like) and downloaded and installed it. I think James Skinner posted it so you could search his posts for the link. That may get you to that link easier.

Sorry I can't help more!

That was an interesting way to get to that screen. I followed your thread, did the steps, the Smart Card was set to STARTED and RUNNING. To make sure, I stopped the smart card, then restarted it. Am now rebooting windows. (Is this the fun part )

Windows is back up. I just re-re-double-double-checked the smart card. It is set to RUNNING, STARTED, and AUTOMATIC. As I said, this has not been a problem on my computer.

My original post just asked one question: What is your driver version if you are having successful downloads. Builta and Gerryk Can you check your driver version? If you go to device manager and double-click the smart card you can then click a tab for the driver - this will show the driver version and the date. I have the feeling I am using the wrong driver.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated,

Happy Naps,
Mr Capers
Hi,

First off I'm currently running Vista 64 bit.

Mako DT3500 Driver 2.0.0.9 Dated 7/3/2009

Previously, I ran for months on Vista 32 bit without issue.

I don't have any experience or suggestions for Vista ported through through a Mac.

Hi Folks,

Here's one error message I get:
Image
The other common error message is that EP cannot communicate with the smart card.

And yes, I have sacrificed a chicken, sent an offering to Bill Gates, plus spending hours doing Google searches on the error code.

I finally thought if I could find someone using the same operating system, EP version, etc. they might direct me to a source for their driver.

I haven't been able to download my data for 10 days, and I'm of course losing more data every time I sleep. I'm supposed to be trying two new masks plus a new machine setting and I can't get any data - except that I feel lousy.

I've searched for driver ver. 2.0.0.7 dated 06-05-2008 and cannot find it. Can you send me the file Gumby, or direct me to a place I can download it?

Builta, our drivers are the same number version (2.0.0.9), the only difference is the date: yours 7/3/2009, mine is 6-29-2009. Yet you are 64bit and I'm 32bit. Another puzzle in the mix.

My most newest idea: delete the driver software, reinstall it, delete the driver from the EP subdirectory, replace that driver with the ver. 2.0.0.9 (or, with ver. 2.0.0.7 - if I can find it. Any thoughts on this?

Many thanks for your help,
Mr Capers

I don't know for sure but usu. when I do installs I let it go to the web for updates. So my guess is it came from Windows Updates or Service Pack Updates. But don't be so quick to blame your drivers they seem to be communicating with the reader - this message says it is the card.

I would say to use Encore Pro to Erase the data from the card.

If Encore won't touch it then use the Smart Card Utility to format the card. Use it for 5-10 min then shut the machine off, give it a few minutes before you remove it to check it.

Post back to let me know how you made out.

Good Luck

Mr. Capers,

First of all ... I am the furthest from being computer literate.

I may be offering something totally off base ... however, let me join the fray.

If I understand, you are running Windows 64 Home Premium. So am I.

My card reader functions without any problems. My card reader is the Mako DT3500 ... you listed software for a Infeneer 2800 if I recall.

Is that an older card reader?

If you haven't tried the Mako (DT3500) site for the Windows software, here it is:

I'll go by-by now.

Good luck.

Since the OP has not responded I will assume he no longer has this problem.

Hi Everyone and Hooray ,

Sorry for not responding, but I got an appointment with the sleep doctor - my first ever - and that took precedence. And that is another topic with room to rant

When I went in for the appt., the RT took my card and it downloaded fine for her - she was using EP 2 - BTW. But, the card had only 4 days data on it, not the usual seven sleep sessions.

When I got home, I erased the card - this function had not worked for a while - and I got a download later! Without incident

I'm assuming the erase had deleted some flag that kept the card from interfacing with the driver software preventing downloads. I'll try another download later today to see what sleeping/not sleeping with two different masks looks like. I'm confident it will work.

Many, many thanks to everyone who responded, including GumbyCT, Hawthorne, builta, GerryK, janp, (and apologies for mis-spelling/capitalizing any of your names).

It looks like I'm back in business, "with a little help from my friends," and I am very grateful,

Happy Naps
Mr Capers
