I've noticed that my Activa LT mask gets very noisy when I experience even mild rainout conditions. It's a whistling noise that's loud enough to wake me up! It can be temporarily silenced by rubbing the exhaust port with your finger, but that solution only lasts long enough for you to fall asleep. Then it whistles, and wakes you up again.
Note that this happens even with mild rainout, when no other symptoms of rainout are apparent. Other than the whistling mask, the mild rainout presents no problems for me. I suspect that the rainout is from condensation in the mask and not in the hose because the hose remains dry and the mask may have no more than a small drop of water in it.
This whistling does NOT happen with my older, standard Activa mask. It seems the older design is better.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have a solution other than to heat the hose or reduce the humidifier setting?
I suspect that my next mask will be a move back to the older design. I hope it stays in production!
Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
I'm workin' on it.
Re: Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
Same here. Only fix I have found is turn down the humidifier.

Re: Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
I have the Activa LT mask and have never had this problem. I do sometimes have a few drops of condensation in the silicone recesses of the mask which does appear to be from exhalation rather than hose rainout, as the hose stays perfectly dry inside with my thick hose cover in place. I generally only have the humidifier set to 1.5 or 2 also. Has the weather recently changed where you are, or has this been happening for a while?
I wonder if this is more likely to occur at higher pressure perhaps (more condensation being pushed towards the exhaust vent)? My pressure is very low -- at 6 or 7. It'll be interesting to hear if this is a problem for many others.

Re: Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
I was getting similar results with the Swift LT pillows. A little moisture that the mask was farting and squeeking. I bought a Sleepzone heated hose a few weeks ago, and I can set the humidifier at a more comfortable level without any condensation. The answer is to keep the air warmer up to delivery to the mask.

Yay Sleepzone heated hose!!!
Re: Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
I just had the same exact problem and fixed it with a heated hose.
Re: Activa LT + rainout = Noisy mask
From the responses, it seems that there may be a design flaw in the exhaust vent
I'll likely end up buying a sleep zone heated hose, too. However, given that there are few advantages to an Activa LT over the original Activa mask (which doesn't have this issue of noise), I think I also will put my old Activa back into service. It seems that the Activa LT is a step backwards.

I'm workin' on it.
