Humidifier - is mine working?

Post by John O » Sat Dec 05, 2009 8:38 pm

I have the System One Heated Humidifier. I am not certain it is working. The water level goes down, but that could be attributed to the heat element. I am using this and I still get dry throat. (which could from other reasons, of course) The settings from 1 to 5 are for the humidfier and I generally us 2 or 3. Is there a simple test to check it? It is a simple devise and air obviously flows through the mask.
Thanks, John

turn it up to four, or even five, and see if that helps the dry throat

I like the pillows mask pretty much. I got used to it a lot better than the face mask. I am sure this is all helping me, but I still lose sleep with the dry throat waking me up.
I will try what you suggest. Thanks

John if the room you are in is dry try using a room humidifier. I did that and it helped me a lot.

Keep in mind I have no idea what this machine looks like. Can you put your hand on the heat plate after running it for awhile?

Keep in mind if the water is going down that is evidence it is working. Prob just with the air blowing thru your open mouth - the air is drying your mouth out.

If you sleep with your mouth wide open (often a result of Cpap pressure) and you're not wearing a full face vs nasal mask, that's probably the problem. You need to try taping for a night or two which will tell you if that's the case (you'll feel a lot better) and if so, you'd then need to start FF mask shopping.
