I'm not at all familiar with your ResMed C-Series Tango machine, nussy. It looks like it's very basic, with no exhalation relief or any way to access therapy results data, such as apnea and hypopnea indexes or leak rates.
The machine you have will give you good CPAP therapy, but it isn't going to be able to give you or your doctor any "feedback" as to how you're doing numbers-wise. You will be able to judge if your therapy is effective by how you feel, but it's nice to have other information available.
As far as your pressure goes, you can always try it at whatever level the doctor prescribes and see how that feels for a while. The pressure can always be adjusted later if you don't feel it's optimal.
Is this still a "loaner" machine, or is this the one you were given to keep? I don't know how your health system works in Canada, but you may want to insist on a machine capable of reporting full data. Perhaps someone else here can give you more advice about that.
You probably have it already, but the basic user's manual for your machine is at http://www.resmed.com/us/assets/documen ... er_eng.pdf. It looks like the only settings available from the "patient menu" are Ramp and Altitude.

Re: titration what should I expect?
I'm still a newbie with less than a month under my belt, 20 days to be exact. My sleep study was horrible also, with very little sleep. But, enough to prescribe a setting of 8. I initially thought it was to high and that I would never get used to it, yawn or breath normally against the pressure. After day 14, I barley noticed the pressure anymore. I yawn with no problems and just found out that I can carry on a conversation with my wife. I did have leaking issues on my mask, but resolved them after reading the instructions on how to adjust the darn thing (typical guy thing). I'm currently enjoying 6.5 to 8 hrs of restful sleep and feel engergized to make my daily 120 mile r/t commute without a yawn. I'm working out more and I'm losing my title as Grump at work and home (I still have my moments). I did have other issues that I resolved with the great advise and wonderful people on this site, if interested - I'll tell you the rest.... Dan

Before I bought the basic machine I asked people on cpap. The advice I got is that all those numbers are seldom used. In fact my doc told me to buy the basic machine.
The heathcare system pays 75 percent of a machine in Ontario. Not sure about other provences.

I check my machine "numbers" (AHI, HI, AI, leak) every day and chart them. I would say that most people on this forum like to monitor their own therapy, and to do that you must have a full data capable machine. Many here self-adjust their pressure according to the machine feedback too.
I do go primarily by how I feel during the day to judge whether my therapy is effective, but when I'm not feeling as well as I think I should, sometimes the numbers may give me a clue why. In my case, without the leak numbers from the machine I would never had known that I was opening my mouth at night and therapy air was escaping, decreasing the effectiveness of my treatment. (The mouth opens when we're in deep/REM sleep because all our muscles completely relax during that period. I was sleeping deeply and had no idea!)
I realize that not everyone wants to be involved that hands-on in their therapy, and that's fine. Like I said, the machine you have will give you good therapy. You and your doctor just won't have any objective feedback and will only be able to go by how you feel. If that's okay with you then stick with what you have, but if you do want to be more directly involved then you should research machines that are capable of reporting full data (there's lots of information on this forum!) and see about exchanging it.
Please let us know how you're doing!
