I've been trying out my different masks with the Rescan software and my Mirage Nasal gel mask along with a chin strap gave me the best numbers. No leaks and only four Hypopneas during the 8 hours.
The problem is that I do not feel as rested this morning as I did with the Fisher & P... 432 full face mask the other night that had many leaks and more hypopneas.
Should I stick with the Mirage Gel becasue the numbers look a lot better?
Thanks,
Tom C
Rescan number good but do not feel rested
Re: Rescan number good but do not feel rested
Did you make sure your machine was set to the correct mask when you changed to the Mirage?

Re: Rescan number good but do not feel rested
Hey Tom,
This has been the story of my struggles with CPAP. I'm capable of getting great numbers but still feel pretty lousy. The one thing that has seemed to help was to lower the pressure but even this has had mixed results. I want to get a Pulse Oximeter as I suspect that something's off with O2 readings with different masks and pressures.
What do your numbers look like with the F&P mask?

Hi Tattooyu,
I'll check the mask settings. I use the Autoset II also and my low setting is 6. Range is 6 to 15. Do you think the low is too low? I've raised the low to 8 before but am afriad to raise it much farther aboove the prescribed rate.
I noticed that you are at 14.
So far the Mirage Nasl gel, the new one, has had the best numbers with very low leak values.
I'll post my numbers tonight.
Thanks!
Tom C.

Re: Rescan number good but do not feel rested
Tom that's the same machine and same range as I'm using. What was your titrated pressure & how long ago was that determined (wks, months. yrs?) and have ypu have any significant changes in wt, prescriptions, illnesses-conditions like allergies-sinus-congestion -- all of these might affect the pressure you need.tcaron wrote:...Autoset II...Range is 6 to 15...
Sometimes, in lieu of a sleep study/titration, docs will put you on an APAP set wide open (4-20) to gather data for multiple nights, then a pressure or pressure range will be determined after reviewing that data.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM
Never, never, never, never say never.

Re: Rescan number good but do not feel rested
Funny thing though. I doubt whether CPAP is really helping me, cos I'm still tired, but all you need is one really lousy night where for whatever reason you experience anxiety and don't sleep well, and the therapy is really not effective, and then you'll see how much the CPAP helps. Everything is relative. Even if not feeling too good, my bet is you'll feel a helluva lot worse without it. Oh yeah, and the side benefit is, its keeping us alive.mdintx wrote:Hey Tom,

Re: Rescan number good but do not feel rested
It could be the mask setting. But heck, if you feel more rested with the F&P 432, I'd concentrate on the leaks with it, getting them down, rather than staying with a mask that is perhaps less comfortable but from which you see better numbers. Mask fit is the most important criteria for me, as a starting point. Mask fit, then leaks, and if you get the leaks down, then the numbers will follow.tcaron wrote:I've been trying out my different masks with the Rescan software and my Mirage Nasal gel mask along with a chin strap gave me the best numbers. All great advice everybody. Thanks!
I am really hopefull that my pre-diabetes and BP come down with successful therapy. No diabetes in family and always had low BP. Now at about 135/80.
Thanks again!
