any reason NOT to buy ResMed software??
Are there any reasons NOT to buy ResMed software and take control of your own treatment for a person who wants all of the data available????

I'm not pulling your chain.........I'm just researching whether, in the long run, this software will be worth the investment..........or if once the machine gets set correctly for me, the need for data will level out.
thank you for replying!

scrapper...i was just messin' with you! welcome aboard. listen...in my opinion the software is crucial. sure...you can get the numbers off the machine first thing in the morning...but you need the software so you can see the graph to completely understand what happened during the night. just my opinion...but i believe others will agree...the software tells the whole story.scrapper wrote:I'm not pulling your chain.........I'm just researching whether, in the long run, this software will be worth the investment..........or if once the machine gets set correctly for me, the need for data will level out.

Re: any reason NOT to buy ResMed software??
The Software Reports tell the story of your sleep as it progressed through the night with all the ups and downs re leak, pressure, events, clustering, etc. The machine #s (centiles, averages, maximums, etc.) only give you an idea of what happened. Without the timeline of my sleep events as shown on my EncorePro reports (and later on my own Charting Program), I would still be trying to figure out what was working and what was not working as I made changes trying to improve my sleep therapy and achieve a restful night's sleep. With the software, I compressed my learning curve re changes to two months.in my opinion the software is crucial. sure...you can get the numbers off the machine first thing in the morning...but you need the software so you can see the graph to completely understand what happened during the night. just my opinion...but i believe others will agree...the software tells the whole story.

Re: any reason NOT to buy ResMed software??
I just bought a ResMed S8 Autoset II with humidifier and was wondering how much this software is and where to buy it.
I'm surprised it isn't just a freeware, freely distributed on the net.
I haven't received my machine yet but I am now researching how to set the thing up since I didn't buy it from a DME.
I bought the Swift LT mask and S8 Autoset II with 4i humidifier all for under $400.00 vs. the $1800 the DME wanted.
Wow, then we wonder why our insurance premiums are so high.

Feel free, then, to write your own software to do the job and freely distribute it on the net.peppi wrote:I'm surprised it isn't just a freeware, freely distributed on the net.

Re: any reason NOT to buy ResMed software??
Actually Bill,
I am capable of doing just that!
The last time someone challenged me like that I started a very long and profitable business.
But I just don't have the energy anymore.
But maybe after I fix my sleep apnea....
Best,
Phil

For those interested:
http://cgi.ebay.com/RESMED-ResScan-3.7- ... 0371461756
$2.95 for a download.
But If I were to make a software I would design an Wireless Lan interface that plugs into the S8 and transmits real time data and stored data to a networked wireless PC.
Card readers are so 90's.

It's probably the third best sleep apnea software out there, but it will only work if you use a resmed that collects data. Jim

Re: any reason NOT to buy ResMed software??
My husband just got the doctor to write a prescription for this machine - The Resmed Autoset II.
The doctor seemed to believe the data card is an SD card. Does anybody know if that is true?
What kind of card reader do we need if it isn't an SD card?
Also, has anybody had any luck downloading that software from Ebay?
Thanks
