Specialty Pillows??
Specialty Pillows??
Hi,
I was wondering if most of you use a specialty cpap pillow. I use a full face mask (and regular pillows) and I'm having a hard time getting comfy and keeping the mask on without getting leaks. I am a side and stomach sleeper. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Specialty Pillows??
Several such pillows are available on cpap.com. However, I made my own after looking at the pictures of some of them. I had a foam pillow with cervical support that I cut up. It was just an experiment, but after a bit of tweaking, it works well. I just laid my head down with a mask on and marked the area on each end of the pillow, and then cut out the sections.
I would have done it sooner if I'd known how helpful it would be.
My problem with purchasing one was knowing which one to select, and they aren't returnable. Would it be too thick, to thin, too soft or hard?
Good luck.

Re: Specialty Pillows??
Let me recommend Regenesis™ Pillow I have been sense Bret invented it a couple years ago..
I did the make your-own and suffer along -ALL- without being satisfied -- If you could see into my closet and see the MANY types of pillows that cost me $$BIG$$
If you notice the square sides make it easy to support side sleeping and FLOPPERS like me!
You can check with many others on the Forum that use it and are satisfied... I have been at this for six years for what ever that's worth.

Another resounding cheer for the Regenesis pillow. I literally cannot sleep without it; that pillow is as much a part of my sleep setup as my bed is!
Re: Specialty Pillows??
Thanks for the replies. Earlier today I watched a video about the Regenesis pillow, but unfortunately it is only available for domestic shipment within the USA and I live in Canada. It's too bad because the video demonstration makes that product look very appealing. I really think it would work.
I'll check out the ones offered on the cpap website or get creative and try to figure out something that may work -- maybe a bean bag pillow lol
Thanks again for the prompt replies!

I bought a special pillow when I had a Quattro. It was the kind with the hollow places on either side for the mask to go in when you turn over. It didn't work for me. I was out $50. Make sure it's right for you when you pay for it. Sleepy Boy-(Larry)

I currently use a MedSlant pillow to keep my head elevated for GERD and apnea. I have one of those contour memory foam pillows, but I've been waiting and waiting to have the money for a Regensis, which as you can see, seems to be pretty great. Maybe you can find one in an auction online?

Thanks again for the suggestions! I found a few Canadian companies that sell buckwheat hull pillows, so I think I will order one and give it a shot.

Re: Specialty Pillows??
I splurged on a Regenesis pillow and have to say that I've set it aside for now. I'm finding I'm just sleeping better with my regular pillow, unfortunately. I was getting neck pain and headaches from what I think were my attempts to hold my head certain ways to avoid forced leakage, etc. Felt like I had to kinda dangle my head on the edge of the pillow.
Re: Specialty Pillows??
I never used a pillow until I started with the hose. Tried several pillows and settled on the Buckwheat Hull several years ago. Somehow, it is cool in the summer and warm in the winter?? It's easy to shape but holds the shape well?? It is noisy but I adapted to it after a few nights, don't even notice it any more. For me it's a three thumbs up!!!

Re: Specialty Pillows??
Go to BuckyPillow.com Like the regnesis pillow but in my opinion better and they ship to canada. I have been using these pillows way before I started CPAP and thank goodness because it was one less thing I had to adjust to.
